PiWriter is (Yet another) tool to help you make bootable SD-cards for your RaspberryPi in Mac OS X. But it's not limited to just RaspberryPi. You can use it to copy every bootable .img file to both internal and removable disks.

The Universal DMG works for both PowerPC and Intel systems and runs on all OS versions supporting Cocoa.

PiWriter2 initial release is now available in the download section. It features drag and drop support to detect the SD card. Click the 'Files' link to check it out!

User Reviews

  • Does not Work on MacOS Sierra.
  • Not working at all on Yosemite. Better look out for something else.
  • Sadly this application appears to no longer function under Yosemite.
  • The application simply does not work. I am on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.4. I installed the app according to the instructions. When I click on the PiWriter icon, nothing happens. It does not appear possible to submit a ticket for this project so I am submitting this review.
  • I've been using PiWriter and PiCloner for about a year now and these two tools have saved me many headaches, countless keystrokes, and a bunch of frustrating moments. These tools make creating and writing disk images much easier. I'm really looking forward to the new "ApplePi" tools that these are evolving into and want to thank the developer here for sharing their work here. At the very least, I owe you a beer! Thank you!!
