Open Media Explorer is a portable Windows application for discovering and playing open and publicly accessible media from multiple internet sources. It combines internet radio, live television, podcasts, public-domain films, audiobooks, cultural archives, conference recordings, PeerTube, Owncast, and other catalogs in one interface. Eleven public providers are integrated without requiring user accounts or API keys. Users can search the combined library, save favorites, browse channel grids, use a radio-style tuner, and discover random media. Playback includes video overlays, a ten-band equalizer, preamp controls, and persistent per-favorite sound settings. Finite media can be downloaded, while live radio and television can optionally be recorded through FFmpeg with selectable quality profiles. The application is local-first, stores its data beside the executable, and does not include telemetry.
