Microduck is an open-source robotics software platform powering a miniature, duck-shaped bipedal robot developed by Pollen Robotics. The robot measures approximately 25 centimeters tall and weighs 800 grams. Its Rust-based software runs on a Rockchip RK3566 processor and controls 15 servomotors through a 50 Hz control loop. Reinforcement learning policies enable walking, balancing, standing up after falls, and object manipulation. The robot also supports optional wheeled movement, gamepad controls, and expressive sounds. Integrated services manage Bluetooth communication, Wi-Fi connectivity, camera streaming, and sensor data. Signed software updates include health checks and rollback protection. Developers can experiment with the robot using a MuJoCo simulation and separately trained neural policies.
