Lavalink is a standalone audio node for Discord music bots and other audio-driven bot systems. It is based on Lavaplayer and Koe and is designed to send audio without routing that audio through the bot’s own shards. This architecture helps larger bots separate audio playback from gateway logic and reduce load on the main bot process. Lavalink provides a REST API for resolving tracks, controlling players, managing playback, and retrieving statistics. It supports seeking, volume control, authentication, Prometheus metrics, Docker images, event handling, and plugin-based extensions. It is widely useful for developers building scalable Discord music bots that need reliable external audio playback infrastructure.
