This is a project to revisit COLLADA as a noncommercial open standard by way of building a fully-realized application of a mature COLLADA-DOM. It is called Daedalus because the COLLADA file format is DAE.

Its sister project is https://sourceforge.net/projects/widgets-95, a novel cross-platform UI framework that makes spare use of wxWidgets internally. The first phase of development is to retrofit the code of the Misfit Model 3D (https://github.com/zturtleman/mm3d) project for Widgets 95.

Daedalus is being developed as a user-friendly alternative/competitor to Blender (https://www.blender.org) initially suited to low-polygon applications, like real-time video games unconcerned with fine details.
