Hi! Here is a list of packages needed, from the oz3.1 testing or unstable feed . If you however use aqpkg (the pkg manager with gui), it will download all of them automatically. ipkg probably has an option to do that too. Dnes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ fyi what you will need for a working xmms (from oz testing feed): libvorbisidec libmad xmms-e (no skin package needed) if you want to play movies you need: mplayer libogg libsdl xmms-e-mplayerplugin if you want to play mods(.it, xm,s3m, others): libmikmod 3.1.99 xmms-e-mikmodplugin if you want to play sid: libsidplay xmms-e-sidplugin for shorten: xmms-e-shortenplugin I hope I didn't leave out something. Hello, I downloaded xmms for Zaurus from; http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=423 It would be a great help if you name the libs needed for the installation of this application and the download adresses. During the installation (on the console) I found out that I missed a couple of libs. I realy tried to found out wich libs I was missing but I couldn't found one of them. (something like pkg-base.lib). I hope you add the needed files to the text on the url named above so i can take another try to install xmms. With friendly regards, Erik de Wild |

Well, I think I got it. Thanks for all your help. There was one dependancy that I was not sure about and could not install anyway, and that was gpe-base. I didnt install it, and it seems to work ok, however, am I missing out on some functionality here? Thanks -- Joe Giles jg...@jo... Hi! The packages you need is at the bottom. If xmms segfaults it would be better if you sent the output of xmms here. (xmms > xlog1 2> xlog2 - and send xlog1 and xlog2). However it should not segfault, definietly works for me. Regarding the network have a look at www.zauruszone.com/howtos or www.zaurus.com, or www.openzaurus.org . Well, That is another issue for me is connecting to the internet from the cradle, so I'm waiting for my lan card to come in. So, could someone tell my exactly what files I need to get XMMS to work? Is there a howto somewhere? I tried to install the qtopia player, and it installed, but appears that there needs to be some kind of plugin for it to play MP3's. I installed the xmms-e_0.00005-1_arm.ipk file and installed it and it seems to SEGFAULT on my. I keep thinking that there are missing packages here, but there is not indication of this. If there is a howto somewhere, that would be great. Im usually pretty quick on picking stuff up, but Im new to the Zaurus and not sure about the way OZ configures its self yet, to top it off.. Any additional help for a newbie Zaurus user would be greatfull :) BTW, Ive been using Linux for Years, so Im not a noob with the OS, just OZ and the Zaurus.. Thanks -- Joe Giles jg...@jo... Well, OK, I tired to install XMMS on my Zarus running OZ 3.1rc1 and now it is telling me that there are package discrepancies. Here is a list if what I need to install this. qpe-base libmad0 libvorbisidec.1 I cant seem to find these on any of the OZ feeds (Or anywhere else for that matter). XMMS 0.00005 final is released for OZ3.x It is available from any recent OZ feed. The main features: - mp3/ogg/sid/shn(shorten)/mod(.it with filters, .xm, .s3m etc.) playback - ogg and mp3 streaming (no proxy support for mp3 yet) - movie playback with the aid of mplayer, supported formats: asf, ogm, avi, mov, mpg, etc - with the usual ffmpeg codecs plus some others(eg. cinepak, roq, etc) For changelog see xmms-embedded.sf.net . (ogm playing works, ogg seeking works, mp3's that crashed before work, movies play smooth) Denes ps: oz3.1rc1 feed is being built currently, will be up in a few hours from now |

Hi! Have you tried clicking on the picture? Than it's full screen. For the current commanline you can take a look at the cvs on sf.net , in xmms/Input/mplayer/wav.c (look for stuff like -ao eg.) btw libmplayer in final 0.00005 uses sdl for audio (no need to use -autosync because sdl somehow works around the seemingly severly broken oss driver) - but the final is not yet available/ready Denes On 2002. december 10. 22:07, James Lancaster wrote: > I have several 320x240 movies that I tried to play on my Z, with mplayer > alone, they worked fine. I have several 320x240 movies that I tried to play on my Z, with mplayer alone, they worked fine. I noticed that xmms does some scaling. What exactly does xmms call mplayer with, so I can try to determine why it is failing. I would suggest that if a video is larger than the alocated display area it gets put up to fullscreen? (might require double mplayer startup time, but is probably worth it. (once to grab details about the file, depending on how you are doing it, and once to really start-up) James L |

Hi! xmms 0.00005 final should be out soon, it's all fixed in it. Until that, as you might have probably did that already, downgrading is the cure. > Hi! > > > I'm having some problems with fast-forwarding thru OGGs. I use my Zaurus (and XMMS) to listen to music for some pretty long periods of time. Just today I had the little thing going for about 5 hrs. I'm having some problems with fast-forwarding thru OGGs. It's worked in the past with XMMS 003 but it's not working now. I tried two different encoders because I thought perhaps my Winamp ogg encoder plugin was the issue (still no go with Goldwave). I'm working with OGG files about a hour long, 80kbps, ~40MB. MP3s can still be skipped thru. BTW, I'm really glad my suggestion for the play/pause center button was added!!! Thanks a lot! Makes controlling the player on-the-road a lot easier. Dustin |

Hi! mplayer and the main package has been updated. Mplayer supports ogm, playback is faster. Vorrbis plugin is now using tremor (just like mplayer). Light will not turn of while playing a movie. Cancel button works most of the time. bye Denes |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi! One thing I forgot: if you click on the movie, it will become fullscreen. In fullscreen it should play well (but the movie resolution has to be less than 320x240 protrait or landscape)! bye Denes > > - a few mpeg movies don't seem to work (sound stutters and the > > playback framerate is low... sometimes only at the beginning). > > I can send you a small movie (<1MB) that demonstrates this. > > This happening at the beginning is known, and I think it is somehow > inherent to mplayer's av-sync code, on such a not so fast cpu.
