Hi everybody, I am a complete newbie to xine. I grabbed xine 0.4.3 and compiled it, which went without any problems. However, xine refuses to show any video output. I learned from the documentation that this is due to a not properly working Xv extension. But now I am puzzled: My Xv extension works perfectly well with other programs -- most notably with vlc from the videolan project. Although I usually run on 24bpp, vlc with the Xvideo plugin automatically switches to 16bpp, overlay mode and hardware accelerated yuv -- fullscreen works just fantastically. So I am a bit at loss here. Does xine have certain additional requirements for Xvideo to work, and if so, why? Does anyone know more about this Xv issue, or can point me to information? Here some info on my system: IBM A20p with PIII 750 MHz, 256 MB ram, ATI rage 128 mobility with 16 MB video ram. The display is 1400x1050, usually on 24bpp. I run SuSE 7.0 with 2.2.16 kernel and XFree 4.0.1. The r128_drv.o module is from CVS and works great. I do not have the drivers from the GATOS project, but vlc seems to prove that you can perfectly do without them. There was no output whatsoever from xine to give any hints. Are there options to get more detailed output? Michael |
