Thanks - I'll have to email back tomorrow, though, since I don't have access to it right now. It's an IBM Thinkpad 1200 something, C600, 192MB, 10GB, SMI Lynx EM+ 4MB, running Debian woody and Xfree 4.0.3-4, although no particular optimisations, kernel 2.4.5 (custom compiled), etc. The graphics capabilities aren't great (4 MB!), but are enough to play Divx's under Windoze with no problems. The hard disk has DMA on, but I haven't checked for other optimisations yet (I've just been looking at the xine howto) - they're probably all wrong at the moment. Thanks very much for your help, anyway, I'll have another go tomorrow. David. |
