Category: audio output problems Group: v1.1.4 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: F-3582 (f-3582) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: 5.1 surround sound channels wrong on AC'97 sound chip (ICH4) Initial Comment: Hi, I'm using a laptop with an Intel ICH4 AC'97 sound chip. Crappy thing, indeed. My problem is the following: When testing the output with the built-in ALSA speaker test, the audio channels are addressed correctly: 0 - Front Left 1 - Front Right 2 - Rear Left 3 - Rear Right 4 - Center 5 - LFE However, when playing 5.1 encoded audio or video, the channels 2/3 are addressed as 4/5 and vice versa. I can fix this by switching the jacks, but overall, it is pretty annoying. The test file I used was found here (called 6_channel_id.wav): www.geocities.com/russell_garber/plug.html The file worked correctly on a friend's Windows PC. Does anyone know what causes this problem? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: F-3582 (f-3582) Date: 2007-03-08 16:36 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1516719 Originator: YES I just noticed one thing: AC3 surround sound goes to the right channels. This problem only happens with wav files encoded to 5.1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=1650019&group_id=9655 |
