Category: gxine Group: None Status: Open Resolution: Accepted Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Darren Salt (dsalt) >Summary: Fullscreen not working again (wm & _NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN) Initial Comment: Hi, I'm the lead developer for Puppy Linux. For sometime we have used Gxine v0.4.6, which did have a problem switching to full-screen -- we found that it had to be done just before the video started to play, a bit later and Gxine crashed. Anyway, when we switched from 2.4 to 2.6 kernel, the problem went away, totally gone. We were very pleased. I have just compiled Gxine v0.5.7, and now it won't switch to fullscreen. Get this message: ---------------- gtkvideo: can't poke gnome-screensaver: failed to execute child process "/usr/bin/gnome-screensaver-command" (no such file or directory) ----------------- Right, Puppy does not have "gnome-screensaver-command" nor do we want it. How can I compile Gxine to not require this? I tried a couple of configure options to no avail. Your help on this will be greatly appreciated, cos right now it constitutes a serious bug. Regards, Barry Kauler www.puppyos.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Barry Kauler (bkauler) Date: 2006-08-30 18:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=775814 I contacted the developer of JWM and this is his response: JWM doesn't yet support _NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN, but I'm working on putting it in now. It should be working by JWM v1.8rc2 (and certainly by v1.8 final). Unfortunately, I don't know how long before those will be ready... hopefully not too much longer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Barry Kauler (bkauler) Date: 2006-08-26 23:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=775814 Does Gxine v0.4.6 do it differently? -- it works using the same window manager (JWM 1.7). I just tested with Fvwm95, same bug. The video inside the window gets bigger, but not the window. I'm wondering, if 0.4.6 does it differently, maybe there could be a configure option to choose the "old method" of going fullscreen? Regards, Barry Kauler ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Darren Salt (dsalt) Date: 2006-08-26 14:02 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=294680 That message is harmless. However, guarding the "if (!screensaver_is_running_dbus (priv))" block in gtv_unblank_screen() (src/gtkvideo.c) with "#ifdef GNOME_SCREENSAVER_COMMAND" seems like the right thing to do here. Not sure about the full-screen failure, although if your window manager doesn't support _NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN, switching to full-screen mode will fail. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=1547071&group_id=9655 |
