Initial Comment:
A config option is probably the best, with an option to reset the user-agent.

This is useful when xine-lib is used to implement video players that mimic existing plugins.

The current code has the User-Agent hardcoded:
  snprintf(this->buf + buflen, BUFSIZE - buflen,
           "User-Agent: xine/%s\015\012", VERSION);
