I had problems with sound on SuSE7.1 also with the ALSA driver although I have an ESS-Solo card. I think my problem was that there was a sound card emulation program running --- this enables multiple programs to play sounds at the same time, but it shafts xine. I can't remeber exactly what the option was but if you are stuck I can go home and have a look... In the current user's control-center (run from main K-menu) select the sound options and completely disable the realtime sound emulation thingy! If it's not that then atleast this should have been useful for someone else. Subject: [xine-user] Audio problems - xine-0.4.01-2b1 & Suse 7.1 Hi, I am running the patched xine-0.4.01 (xine-0.4.01-2b1) from Henry Worth built from source RPM on a Suse7.1 platform as follows: Kernel: 2.4.0 Soundcard: Soundblaster AWE64 Xfree86: 4.0.2 with Gatos ATI drivers Alsa driver: 0.5.10 I am very impressed with the xine software, however I am getting problems with the audio. If I use the alsa driver (xine -A alsa) I get the following error message: snd_pcm_channel_params() failed: Invalid argument master clock adjust time 15019 -> 0 snd_pcm_channel_params() failed: Invalid argument The movie still runs but with no sound. If I use the oss driver (xine -A oss) I get the following message: audio_out_oss: realtime check: *FAILED* :-((((( audio_oss_out: Audio driver realtime sync disabled... audio_oss_out: ...Will use video master clock for soft-sync instead audio_oss_out: ...There may be audio/video synchronization issues The movie runs with sound but the audio rapidly gets out of sync with the video (as the warning says). Is anyone running a similar setup and have any suggestions how I can solve my sound problems? It looks as though I need different audio drivers. Otherwise using xine with the Gatos XFree86-4.0.2 drivers, the XVideo extension and a ATI Rage Pro (Mach64) AGP card gives very smooth video playback. - Stewart Charnell _______________________________________________ xine-user mailing list xin...@li... http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xine-user ________________________________________________________________________ This message has been checked for all known viruses, by Star Internet, delivered through the MessageLabs Virus Control Centre.
