Hi all Well, well, I still have a huge problem with "When I say successfully, I mean well enough to invite some friends over, let the thing roll, and never have to touch it?". Xine uses somewhere around 80% of my CPU cycles and the rest is eaten up by X and another xine-thread. This is just sick, since I have a 1 GHz machine. And yes, Xv works - big time. And I have lots of dropped frames. Could it be that kernel 2.4.2 has some quirks that slow down xine? Or should I try to play with the different builds (i586/i686)? Ok, I know - I should try that first and ask _then_, but I had the idea right now. I will doublecheck the mtrr stuff too,.... Please, has anyone with a similar amount of processing power had any problems with dropped frames?
