Bugs item #1145192, was opened at 2005-02-21 05:59 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=1145192&group_id=9655 Category: audio output problems Group: current cvs version Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Adam Williamson (adamwill) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: with alsa's dmix-by-default patch xine cannot play 5.1 sound Initial Comment: I am running Mandrakelinux Cooker, with ALSA 1.0.8. Cooker's libalsa is patched with a patch from ALSA CVS which enables dmix by default for all ALSA output. Cooker's libxine is v1.0 - there doesn't appear to be a v1.0 option so I picked current cvs version, sorry. Since the ALSA patch was merged, xine and derivatives have been unable to play 5.1 audio. Simplest testcase: mplayer -ao alsa -channels 6 dolby-city.ogg works fine. Correct, six-channel sound. xine dolby-city.ogg "the audio device is unavailable. Please verify if another program already use it." (with audio system, in the config file, set to 'alsa', speaker arrangement set to 'Surround 5.1', and all other relevant settings default.) With audio system set to OSS, the sound plays, but due to some unrelated bug, the surround is all screwed up, so that's not a workaround for me. Besides, this ought to work. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=1145192&group_id=9655 |
