Bugs item #959626, was opened at 2004-05-24 20:31 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by rfreund You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=959626&group_id=9655 Category: gui Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Robert Freund (rfreund) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: xine doesn't release focus on exit Initial Comment: When exiting xine-ui, xine-ui doesn't release the window focus (or similar). After exiting xine, no window has focus. This can be seen when running xine on kde (3.2.2, latest): 1. start any program 2. start xine(-ui), fucos it 3. quit xine 4. now window focus is gone. alt+tab doesn't help, only clicking with the mouse does. I reported this to the kde team; they said they would make their window manager handle this better, but actually the application should somehow return/release window focus, which xine-ui obviously doesn't do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Robert Freund (rfreund) Date: 2004-06-21 18:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=557362 I think this shift-key-thing should be filed as a new bug as it's clearly not related to this one ("xine doesn't return focus after exiting"). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dimitri Papadopoulos (papadopo) Date: 2004-06-21 17:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=52414 xine should stop Shift key event generation in at least the following cases : * xine is iconified * xine is paused ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dimitri Papadopoulos (papadopo) Date: 2004-06-21 17:12 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=52414 Ah, OK, I see. Indeed xine seems to be generating Shift key presses even when it doesn't have focus (that's the whole purpose of it after all). However xine should at least stop the Shift press generation when it's paused. Sometimes I pause a movie to do something else and the Shift key is still messed up by xine. I had the impression that the Shift key remains messed up even after quitting xine, but I guess I'm wrong on this one. After all I don't see how xine could possibly mess up the Shift key *after* exiting... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Robert Freund (rfreund) Date: 2004-06-21 15:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=557362 The last comment (shift key problem) might be related to the little "hack" that xine does to avoid a screensaver: it simulates a left shift key press every 30 seconds. The reason for this is that in most desktop environments, screensevers are operated differently, and thus there is no central method of keeping them from turning on. Note that I'm not a xine developer and only read this "somewhere" :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dimitri Papadopoulos (papadopo) Date: 2004-06-21 15:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=52414 There's no discussion xine shouldn't give focus back to any window. However it seems to be grabbing the mouse, messing with they keyboard or something like that. You should make sure this doesn't happen. Concerning the Shift key problem, it doesn't work properly while running xine and even after leaving xine. By "not working properly", I mean the following: * Run xine under KDE. * Move the mouse to a different window such as a konsole window. * Hit the Shift key and keep it pressed. * First all works well, konsole displays capital letters when I press the keys. * Then suddenly the system seems to forget that the Shift key is being pressed. It switches to small letters. This is not a keyboard problem, I have tried on many machines with different keyboards. I've verified I don't depress the Shift key by accident. Happens with Fedora Core 1. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Caujolle-Bert (f1rmb) Date: 2004-06-13 02:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=78547 I've just added in CVS a fix to made C-Tab working after quit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Caujolle-Bert (f1rmb) Date: 2004-06-12 12:05 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=78547 Duh! xine can't give focus back to a window, imagine the previously focused window has been destroyed. About the Shift key problem, can you tell us more ? Cheers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Dimitri Papadopoulos (papadopo) Date: 2004-05-27 11:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=52414 The Shift key doesn't work properly after having run xine under KDE. I guess it's related. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=109655&aid=959626&group_id=9655 |
