Hi, I recently came across a VDR [1] together with the xineliboutput plugin [2] which provides a minimalist media player that plays most audio and video formats fine, such as H.264: --- $ ffprobe -i test-x264.mp4 [...] Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p, 720x576 [SAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], 2556 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 12800 tbn, 50 tbc (default) [...] --- It _doesn't_ play H.265, though: --- $ ffprobe -i test-x265.mp4 [...] Stream #0:0(und): Video: hevc (Main) (hev1 / 0x31766568), yuv420p(tv), 720x576 [SAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], 781 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 12800 tbn, 25 tbc (default) [...] --- ffmpeg is built with both "--enable-libx264" and "--enable-libx265". The relevant xine plugins are installed and working (including xineplug_decode_ff.so). The changelog for xine-lib 1.2.5 (1.2.6 installed) says "Recognise & use HEVC/H.265. (ffmpeg)". Looking into this, I found that plain xine on the system in question doesn't play the file, "Video Codec: Unavailable (hev1)". ffplay does. Something I could try to make this work?
