I've been trying to get HTTP authentication to play nice between xine-lib and totem. One, albeit small issue is that xine reports XINE_MSG_CONNECTION_REFUSED if an HTTP authentication (401) error occurs. Since there is already a permission error constant and it is implemented to a certain extent (XINE_MSG_PERMISSION_ERROR in input_http.c:833 of rev 1.129), I figured I'd simply add the 401 error to existing code.... resulting in the attached patch. When running Totem 2.16 or xine-ui 0.99.4 with the new patched code, trying to access a file that is protected by HTTP authorization will show a "permission error" rather then "connection refused" message. There may be a better way to handle this and I'd love to help out somehow if someone wants to point me in the right direction. //Dmitri |
