Hi, I've been messing with this for a couple of evenings now. I'm just now making pretty good headway. In an earlier email it was suggested that changing the default settings in the manner of front to front:1 would switch to the second card. This has not worked at all for me. What has worked however is using plughw:1,0 . I though I was supposed to be able to use 'hdsp' or alsa_pcm:hdsp from the .asoundrc file, but those doesn't work. Nor does hw:1,0. Does this sound normal or as expected? I think not, but I'm not sure. Also, in testing for 4 and 5 channel audio, trying surround40 and surround51 work through the Via chip, but trying surround40:1 or surround51:1 results in lots of error messages: audio_alsa_out: snd_pcm_open() of surround51:1 failed: No such file or directory audio_alsa_out: >>> check if another program don't already use PCM <<< Is this because my HDSP 9652 doesn't have a Dolby decoder (which it doesn't TTBOMK) or that I don't have a PCM of some type defined in the driver or my .asoundrc file? Anyway, I'm pretty happy to at least be getting stereo through the HDSP 9652 but I'd like to find a way to get 6 channel sound and mix it in hardware to go to my speakers. Thanks, Mark |
