Currently, this is mainly due to the linux kernel going a bit wild when it finds an error on the DVD. It might be a bug in libdvdnav, so if you have enought disc space, use the dvdbackup tool, and see if it can read the whole DVD and copy it to your hard disc. In the xine config screens, you have boxes under the audio tab (might need expert config mode, see gui tab). audio.alsa_front_device:front audio.alsa_surround40_device:surround40 audio.alsa_surround51_device:surround51 These will access the first sound card.
