Hi Clifford, Have you ever succesfully played DVDs on the drive? Some drives need to be locked (once-time-operation) to a region before they will properly read DVDs. Windows DVD software often does this automatically, but in Linux you have to do this yourself. Maybe this has changed, but I had to do it about 1.5 years ago. I don't have any windows, so my drive hadn't been set yet. (I now have region-free firmware for it, though).
