Greetings. I'm a little bit new at this. I'm trying to play DVD's using xine under Linux. The DVD's are playing but the output is not smooth at all. Every two seconds there is a pause. I have xine-lib-1-rc1 and libdvdcss-1.2.8 installed on my laptops which are running suse 8.2 (kernel 2.4.20-4GB). I compiled xine and css and created rpms using checkinstall. I'm using xine-ui and set it up to use the Xv output plugin. The problem occurs on the following hardware: (1) IBM thinkpad T40p with the pentium M, 1.6 GHz processor and an ATI graphics card. XFree 4.3 says the BoardName is "RV250 Lf" and uses the Driver "radeon". (2) Compaq Presario 1700US with a PIII @ 850 MHz and an ATI graphics card. XFree 4.3 says the BoardName is "3D Rage P/M Mobility AGP 2x" and uses Driver "ati". In the past with an older distribution I was able to play DVD's rather well on laptop (2) using vlc and libdvdcss. Also, the same problem occurs with mplayer and vlc, so I suspect it has to to with how my X Server is configured. If I execute xine --verbose=9, one line that I notice is: "video_out_xv: Xv extension is present but I couldn't find a usable yuv12 port. Looks like your graphics hardware driver doesn't support Xv?!" I don't believe my hardware doesn't support Xv. The xdpyinfo output does show XVideo is available. Any help on this is very appreciated.
