Please bear with me, I'm new to Linux. Such crashes are not due to xine or RH9 I expect. I run RH9 as of the day it was available on multiple machines and use xine every day. Never have seen a crash. Just in case you have problems with some RPMS, try compiling from source, which is quite easy on RH I think (just make sure all necessary devel packages are available). Crashes may be due to bad graphics drivers. In that case you can try to use the xshm video output (xine -V xshm), which shouldn't crash or buy a well supported graphics card for your box :-) Also, on RH9 it may be necessary to specify : LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 xine To make xine-ui respond well, but this applies to more apps besides xine due to something Redhat implemented in RH9.
