What processor do you use?

You can try to set manualy a memcopy method. Edit ~/.xine/config and try 
*one* of the following settings:

misc.memcpy_method:sse
misc.memcpy_method:mmxext
misc.memcpy_method:mmx
misc.memcpy_method:kernel
misc.memcpy_method:glibc
