Does anyone knows a solution for playing multiple videostreams in Sync with a master Player/Timecode? For a student project We are trying to set up a couple of simple machines to play multiple videochannels, preferably MPEG2, but I guess the codec would not be really relevant. For the first tests, it would already be helpful if multiple players could start playing at the same time, synchronized via TCP/IP or serial connections. Later, a more robust chase sync mechanism would be needed, I guess. I have no experience with xine so far, but from the docs I see that xine has a video/audio sync mechanism and internal clock/timecode that could also be used to synchronize multiple video channels. We were also looking into some Windows based solutions or hardware mpeg players, but commercial solutions are simply too expensive (e.g. 2000US$ per video channel), while all known windows players/libraries seem to be black boxes or simply lack any sync/remote capabilities and/or stability. Too bad Quicktime isn't available for Linux. -- Carsten Kurz, Cologne, Germany |
