Hmm, I guess we could try to produce a better error message in this case, but you have hit the limits of our MRL specification: The '#' character is reserved for MRL options (like explicitly selecting a demuxer or setting config options on a per MRL basis). Have a look at README.mrl for details! However, URL style "%" escapes are supported by xine, so you should be able to replace '#' with "%23", in order to play your files, eg: xine 'K-19 The Widowmaker %231.avi' Hmmm, I just tried, and it looks like the file input plugin doesn't unescape right now :-( I guess that should be fixed.
