Ok got it about xine and mplayer...(say are there other widgets that use = xine as the engine but provide a different ui? just curious). now to the AVI_init error: file reports: Microsoft ASF renaming the file to file.asf didn't help (same message); so I tried = file.avi nothing there either... The file in question is a file my wife made of my kids using the cheapie = logitech USB web cam that came with our DSL connection. I believe the = only formot it allows us to save in is 'wmv' which according to 'file' = is Microsoft ASF... so any other ideas... =20 -Fred -----Original Message----- From: Michael Roitzsch [mailto:mr...@us...] Sent: Fri 8/2/2002 8:41 AM To: Fred Welland; xin...@li... There is no direct relation between xine and mplayer (apart from some=20 very healthy competition ;). But of course fixing your XFree made both=20 players happy, because both use the Xv extension of XFree which was=20 obviously broken before. > mplayer will play ASF/WMV files fine; xine displays nothing and in > all the output I see: > > demux_avi: input capabilities =3D 649 > demux_avi: AVI_init failed (AVI_errno: 9) > system layer format 'MPEG_ELEM' detected. This usually means, that the file you are trying to play is not an avi.=20 Maybe 'file <filename>' can tell you what this really is. Renaming it=20 accordingly should help xine in detecting the format. Michael --=20 prom_printf("Detected PenguinPages, getting out of here.\n"); 2.0.38 /usr/src/linux/arch/sparc/mm/srmmu.c |
