Here is the latest version of xine_check.c. I have used code from hdparm.c (hdparm utility) for checking the dma of the dvd drive. I have a few questions: 1) I get the kernel information from /proc/version. What parts of that are relevant? Are there any decisions we need to make based on kernel version? 2) I can get the mtrr from the /proc but I am unsure what we need to check. The fact that I get something? If I don't find the mtrr information in the /proc directory then something is wrong? 3) I can check the dma for the DVD drive but: a) I have to be root based on the permissions for the actual drive. b) My link points from /dev/dvd -> /dev/scd0. The drive is not a SCSI drive its a IDE DVD/CDRW. So the actual drive is /dev/hdc. I don't know how to handle that. Stephen |
