I would like it better if the open function was a member of the plugin 
class structure, because it is more flexible (different open-parameters 
for different plugin types - no access to xine_stream_t for output 
plugins). Maybe we also need a dispose function for the class structure 
in case someone subclasses class structures and stores dynamic data in 
it.
