Is anyone still having problems with ac3 passthru in xine? If anyone is still having problems, please report: - 1) xine version. 2) Using oss or alsa09 3) oss version. (e.g. emu10k1 CVS from sf.net for the SB Live) 4) alsa09 version. 5) Sound card name as reported by "lspci -v", so we get the version numbers and subsystem IDs. Special note: - Always try the latest CVS versions of xine, dvdnav, libdvdnav, alsa09 before reporting a problem. There is a reason for the fixed delay of 10000 added when doing passthru in xine. It is because the external AC3 decoder has a fixed lenght latency, and 10000 just happens to work well with my setup. So that is a delay over and above the delay caused by sound card buffers. For general info: - The latest Alsa 09 CVS supports all revisions of the SB Live in passthru mode. I know for sure that is works with rev 6,7,8 of the SB Live. It is only recently that rev 7 was made to work. (To do with the analogue/digital shared jack) The emu10k1 oss driver from sf.net has always worked with my rev 6 SB Live when the passthru patch/effect is loaded. Different versions of libdvdnav can also effect sound in xine, with some versions of libdvdnav causing AC3 passthru to turn on and off very quickly, which is due to buffer xruns which go unreported to the application. I found that disabling all readcache and the extra thread which the latest libdvdnav has for readcaching cured the problem on my system. Cheers James |
