I bought the cheap noname 8x DVD drive from mail order at around 90 CAN last year. The price went below 50 CAN at one time afterwards. The first one was an OEM from Raitei (Taiwan). It died within warranty and got replaced. (It could be dirt on the head. That was the main CDROM and the computer is accessiable to my kids. Looking at the CDs, they are quite terrible at times.) The replacement was an older model from Hitachi Both DVD drives work fine with Xine. The Hitachi is a bit noisier on opening and closing the tray. There are no skip/drop frames on steady play. Xine actually plays better than the Windows based windvd and powerdvd on the same machine. Good Luck, ============================================================== Subject: [xine-user] dvd drive >> Hi there, >> >> can anyone here suggest which DVD drive is well-used with xine, >> and reasonable in price. >> >> Thank you > |
