First I want to apologize if I bother someone with updates that are already aplied in CVS or newer release. I only checked the 0.9.8 release of XINE-LIB. ---------------------------------------- Subject 1 : Buffer Types Divx5 uses a new FOURCC : 'DX50' instead of the usual 'DIVX'. Also, there's an Ogg Vorbis ACM that helps people insert Vorbis audio in a AVI File (also used by the NanDUB variant of VirtualDUB). (Too bad they didn't make a new release using Vorbis RC3...) That's why I did the following patches to src/xine-engine/buffer_types.c : diff buffer_types.c.orig buffer_types.c 73a74 > mmioFOURCC('D', 'X', '5', '0'), /* Patch : DivX 5.0 / Xvid streams */ 381c382 < 0 --- > 0x674f, 0x676f, 0x6750, 0x6770, 0x6751, 0x6771, 0 /* Patch : Ogg audio in AVI files */ So now my Xine can play (almost) all DivX5 and Vorbis content ---------------------------------------- Subject 2 : GPL MPEG-4 engine Xvid is an attempt to fork from OpenDivx and create a GPL-ed MPEG4 engine, compatible with DivX. Currently it can decode all Divx4 content and some Divx5 content. It doesn't work yet on Divx 3.11 content. Although it's primary targeted for WIN32 platform, its CORE part builds perfectly under Linux too (there's a Makefile provided for that purpose in the package) I tought it may be interesting to mention it in the REAMDE.divx4 file of XINE-UI package. URL : http://www.xvid.org ------------------------- I hope this will be useful. - DrYak - |
