Hello I have now received the replacement HD from Seagate. The old HD crashed in less than 1 year. Although Seagate did take a long time, their Customer support lines are very good. They are free phone telephone lines, and one gets onto an actual person very quickly. None of this "left on hold for 30 mins." type setup. Also, the excuses they give over the phone are very good, they often point to problems with the Seagate internal processes, so they were surprisingly truthful. E.g. The process of getting a airbill tracking number when posting kit from Seagate to the customer is not automated, so they asked me to wait 7 days (the expected delivery time), so they would only have to find the airbill tracking number if the package was actually late. I am installing debian over a dialup ISDN link, so hopefully, at the end of this weekend, I will have a working debian system which I can then use to start developing for xine again. I would like to thank everyone who has sent debug reports, and DVDs to me over the last month or so. I will now be able to fix xine so that it can play them properly. That linux machine is the only box I have with a DVD player, so if xine does not work, I cannot play DVDs. I hope this explains why I have not been contributing to the project much over the last month or so. Cheers James |
