Hi, I have not found something related to my problem (not the good keywords maybe) with google so I try here. I'm playing with wrapper 3.1.0 under Windows XP to try to have JBoss 3.2.3 as a service. After a configuration mixed from jboss.org and wrapper examples, my jboss environment is running in the wrapper console mode without problems. when I try to start it as a service (install OK) I have this message: FATAL | wrapper | 2004/04/27 18:57:08 | Unable to execute Java command. The system cannot find the file specified. (0x2) "%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java" -Djava.library.path="%JBOSS_HOME%/lib;c:/windows/system32" <snipped> Q: is normal to have %JAVA_HOME% and %JBOSS_HOME% in the line and not c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\ , ...? (the %JAVA_HOME% and %JBOSS_HOME% are registred because the wrapper console mode is launched with the same terminal and it works) thanks for your time, Christophe. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hi again, I just remembed that I have another problem related to wrapper.ntservice.account. Wrapper doesn't install (for me at least) the service with the login credentials that I give to him in the configuration file. I can have: wrapper.ntservice.account=domain\password wrapper.ntservice.password=secret and after I run wrapper -i configuration.file the service is installed, but with 'LocalSystem' credentials. What might be wrong? Thanks, E. -----Original Message----- From: Leif Mortenson [mailto:le...@ta...] Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 2004 5:21 PM To: wra...@li... Subject: Re: [Wrapper-user] wrapper.ntservice.password Cocalea, It is not possible to encrypt the password with the current version. I will look into what can be done to hide it. The problem is that that password will need to be decrypted before it is used in the Windows API call to register the Wrapper as a service. The password is only needed when the service is installed. So one thing you could do is to modify the Wrapper install batch file so it prompts the user for a password and then uses the response to register the Wrapper as a service as follows: Wrapper.exe -i ..\conf\wrapper.conf wrapper.ntservice.password=%PASSWORD% Cheers, Leif Cocalea, Eugen wrote: >Is there any way we can have the password encrypted in the configuration >file? > >Thanks, > >EC. > > >------------------------------------------------------- >This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials >Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of >GenToo technologies. Leif, Andreas, Thanks very much. I did not notice that last textbox. It appeared to me that everything on that section of the page was for administrators only. Perhaps a bold heading there would make it clearer. I am merely trying to limit the amount of material that arrives in my inbox - I have quite a lot of different things going on. I may be back again at a future time. The wrapper is great. Keep up the good work. Cheers Paul -----Original Message----- From: wra...@li... Frank,
I don't use either of those OSs but the Windows 95, 98, ME series of
OSs do not
support the concept of Services at all. So no you can not run the
Wrapper as a
service.
That given, it is quite possible to use the Wrapper under 98, ME
(not sure about 95).
You simply run the Wrapper in console mode. You can get service like
functionality
by placing a link to the Wrapper's batch file into your startup menu.
Cheers,
Leif

Paul,
just go to the very bottom of this page ("To change your subscription ...").
Then enter your e-mail address there and click on "Edit Options".
On the next page, enter your password in the top left text field, and click "Unsubscribe".
Then you are done.
Cheers,
Andreas

My apologies for asking this question in this way but there appears to be no way to unsubscribe from this list that I can find. I visited https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wrapper-user but it only allows for new subscriptions and administrator management of lists. Could someone inform me as to how I can unsubscribe from this list. Many thanks Paul |

Hi, I'm wondering if the Wrapper allows for the installation of a service on Windows 98 SE and Windows ME. Admittedly, I'm not that familiar with Windows, but I understand that those two OSs have the concept of a system service. If the Wrapper can't do that, are there other software packages that would? Thanks for checking. Both of the OSX files look like they have been
built correctly.

Andreas, Thanks, I modified both the Linux and Solaris versions so that they now dynamically link their libraries. Tested it with ldd. Another option is to have your config file use a include statement for a password.conf file. This file would just have a one line of "wrapper.ntservice.password=3D". You can then remove the password.conf file once you've installed the service. This way your configuration files remain intact and issue of making a mistake by modifying the file are avoided. Leif, a patch is very simple. You should simply replace the occurance of "ld" with "$(COMPILE)" in the Makefile.linux. It is always better to link also with gcc (it calls ld with the proper options) when using it for compilation. A quite good overview of tools and its options for creating libraries on a variety of platforms is here: http://www.fortran-2000.com/ArnaudRecipes/sharedlib.html. Prashant,
to verify, which additional libraries a shared library or an executable depend on, you may issue the command "ldd" on it.
So "ldd wrapper" gives me on a SuSE Linux Enterprise 8 (I have no RedHat here):
libc.so.6 => /lib/i686/libc.so.6 (0x40022000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)
For libwrapper.so I get:
statically linked
(Leif: was the static linking for the JNI library intentional?)
The binaries are not linked with explicit library dependency, so the GNU linker decides which libraries to link in my default (libc.so in this case; ld-linux.so is linked in by libc.so and is no direct dependency).
ldd will also show you if there are missing dependencies.
Hope it helps,
Andreas

I am trying to get Wrapper(3.0.5) work on Red Hat Linux Adv Server. 1.What version of glibc is required to get the shipped libraries running. - This may be stupid but Is libc the only dependency? yeah thanks.... but i have been through that.... i agree - i think it is a windows issue - i just cannot seem to solve it.... i think it is something to do with permissions on the networked computers.... they don't have access to each other - they need to log into them so i think something is going wrong here. ie the credentials will be incorrect...... phil...... Philip,
Have you read over this topic in the FAQ? It sounds like you may have.
http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.org/doc/english/faq.html
How are you referencing the network drives? They are mapped? Have
you tried
using the UNC syntax? I have had problems with mapped network drives on
startup
as well. Seems to be a Windows issue rather than a Wrapper issue
however :-/
