Jamie, Nice job on the new webmin.com site design. I really did a double-take when I loaded the page just now! The site seems faster too, though maybe that is just my imagination. Cheers Dave Isaacs |

First of all apologies if I post in the wrong place.
Please note: this happens to me on a Gentoo system and also on a Fedora
Core 6 one.
First of all, I try to add domains Virtualmin Virtual Servers in LDAP.
If I set Virtualmin Virtual Servers to use local files it works without
problems. My LDAP Users and Groups module is correctly set up and I can
add/modify users/groups. But when I try to add a new virtual server it
gives the following error message:
Failed to create administration group!
The configuration for Virtualmin Virtual Servers

The only debugging information that I know how to get is to add '-w' at
the top of the 'create-domain.pl' and to run it manually from the
command line (after I set the environment variables WEBMIN_CONFIG and
WEBMIN_VAR.

I need some help onfiguring dhcp with webmin. I am using Cento 4.4(RHEL U4) here's my network layout for this mahcine network which needs to be served by dhcp: eth0 192.168.9.1 mask 255.255.255.0 start ip 192.168.9.100 end ip 192.168.9.199 ntp server 192.168.9.1 default lease 24 hours max lease 48 hours I want the clients to have the same ip every time via their mac addresses. Check the /etc/pam.d/usermin file - it should be setup the same as /etc/pam.d/ssh , assuming that SSH logins for LDAP users work OK. Also, make sure you have the Authen::PAM perl module installed, as Usermin needs it to authenticated users not in /etc/shadow. If you do install it, be sure to restart Usermin afterwards. - Jamie |

Hi Jesse, This may be a bug in the way Usermin parses email .. it could be assuming that the attachment is part of the body (such as an image in the HTML) when it really shouldn't be. If you could forward me the email that exhibits this problem, it should be easy to fix.. - Jamie |

Usermin experts,
We are running the latest version of Usermin on Fedora. I am
running an ldap (openldap) server. I can authenticate into the
server using ssh for any ldap user, but I can't authenticate Usermin
for the same users on the server. Is this a Usermin configuration
issue with ldap or is this a system issue with ldap? I believe we
have pam configured to authenticate against ldap for the system. So
it seems to me that Usermin should authenticate users against ldap,
but its not. What configuration files should I look at to get usermin
authenticating with ldap?

Hello all again. For whatever reason our staff seems to be nitpicking this year.... Anyhow heres the latest thing people have noticed in Usermin. I haven't been able to put my finger on it yet, but a few of our staff is reporting that every once in a while they will receive an email with attachments, but the attachments are not shown at the footer of the email. The only way for them to see the attachments is to click "View as Text". At that point the email is shown in text, the HTML of the email is an attachment, and all other attachments are also shown at the bottom. I have tried to replicate this problem by doing the following. All emails I sent were in HTML only: -Attach a Gif. -Attach a Jpeg. -Attach either of the above with a PDF. -Attach a HTML document with all the above. Neither method replicates the problem. However a staff member did forward me the offending email and it does the same thing for me and anyone else I forward it to in usermin... I'm at a loss here. Any ideas? (BTW, I can forward the email to you. Its just a quote for TechEd, but I didn't want to post it to the list to keep traffic down.) -- -Jesse C. It would be (very) nice if the "Protected Web Directories" modules provided the option to write data to httpd.conf in addition to its current method of writing to .htaccess files. I'd like to be able to disable .htaccess support altogether, and configure things only in httpd.conf. This can make a performance improvement for Apache. Thanks, Doug |

I just use a North America NTP pool address to synch and things went fine. My windows 2000 machines on the otherhand............ ;-) Date sent: Mon, 12 Mar 2007 12:42:17 -0400 From: John Hinton <web...@ew...> To: Webmin users list <web...@li...> Subject: Re: [webmin-l] server time Send reply to: Webmin users list <web...@li...> <mailto:web...@li...?subject=unsubscribe> <mailto:web...@li...?subject=subscribe> [ Double-click this line for list subscription options ] The date that the time changes changed this year. If I understand it right, the sync to like a NTP server will produce the proper UTC time which is unaffected by DST, but instead is 'world time' so to speak. So, the adjustment to that time is made on individual machines.. time zones, if they use DST, and the dates that DST goes on and off. I'm betting you did not do the updates to your server which carried the new DST information, in particular, the change to the date that DST begins.
