Integration. You have integrated many things. That's the most important mission. Sounds good. I have seen other discussion about postgres. Phil may be able to tell you who. You may find in the various discussion areas or past lists too. Yes, Chris, we could use some very nice graphics. What I am thinking of is a thin long banner for the top of the webERP website with business stuff in it. Papers, pie and bar charts, a computer with a business person at it and one standing and looking on interestingly, etc. After we get a picture like that we need to make it all monochrome. Kind of like black and white only blue and white or maybe earth brown and white. They need to be pastel colors. The whole picture can then be faded to be a banner background. I could fade it in Photoshop though later since what goes in front of it will determine the opacity needed. I realize this is highly exacting but would you be able to do anything like this by any chance? Here is an example sort of along the lines of what I'm getting at... http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/e/b/ceb543d1-c7f8-42a7-9034-155fdd296388/Navision_Analytics.doc and here http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/7/1/a715efcb-e7f0-4cd9-8bfa-f6f499f97681/GP_EnterpriseReporting.pdf in the right corner. It is not just a salesforce.com clone as the majority of those above seem to be, and I have been trying to work on weberp integration for some time (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=8517406) although have stalled somewhat at present working on other functionality. Of course integration with some of these tools may be easier and of course everyone has to weigh up the pros and cons of what they want from the integration (integration with the above products may suit some people down to the ground), but when I last looked most of the projects above did not have any intentions to add any functionality above that required of the CRM, and this is where EGS is different. At present EGS is in a state between CRM and weperp. All of the CRM is linked into the project management and has some job costing and time tracking facilities present (it is this functionality we have been working on for a client, and why we paused looking at weberp for a while), it is on this that we would like to expand by adding the ability to run accounting/erp etc from the system. With the possibility of weberp running on postgres it seems to be the best system for us to integrate (we have looked at sql-ledger too) and that is why we appraoched weberp to find out more ( I was unaware of any other projects looking to do this too). Obviously I am biased since a lot of my blood, sweat and tears have gone into EGS, but I for one will continue to look at integrating web-erp with EGS since I believe it to be a fairly trivial task (famous last words) once I have gotten web-erp to run on postgresql due to the way out database is laid out. So my slightly ranting email aside, if anyone has gotten web-erp to work on postgresql I would be most interested to your experiences. Thanks Jake >Dick Stins >----- Original Message ----- >From: "skaill" <sk...@ro...> >To: <web...@li...> >Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 7:58 PM >Subject: Re: [Web-erp-developers] Cheap > > > > |

I would certainly be interested in discussing the posibility of a port. I know lots of people like mysql, my preference is for postgres hence why the system uses it but I have no intentions of starting a debate on the merits of each and I can certainly see the value of a mysql port, boosting the projects popularity is a major one for starters. |

I think some are running webERP with postgres. How difficult would it be to get EGS using MySQL instead of postgres? I would be looking at the other way around for a few customers. Thanks for the offer, Jake. I'm not sure where the domain name registration sits right now. Phil was going to pay for it so I found a place that is really cheap. Why would the host be called weberp? The host should point to the machine that is running mysql. In my case that is usually localhost, but I don't know where you are running mysql. Hi Phil, It's cheaper, better and easy to do yourself at a domain registry place such as http://www.register.com. Only $35. Here's their price list... http://www.register.com/pricing/index.cgi and here's where you register... http://www.register.com/register.cgi Just type weberp in the search box and it will list which extensions are available. Hmm, yes there are a couple of sql tables but they are based on the sales tables too... I will extract them and send them to you... I think you can convert a quotation to an order, but not sure. I did that a couple of months ago and forgot to post the diff to you... I have done a cvs update, and noted the conflicts so I will solve these conflicts and see that there is still functionality based on the current version. But as I said it is mainly standalone, except for the modification fo the menus...
