Ok, I have nearly finished to merge the quotation with the current CVS. I will send you the complete tarball when done, so you can do a diff with your CVS version and see the differences... Language team, Please check smarty for transforming decimal point locator (. or ,) and thousands separator (, or .) and may be for more issues like dates formats. http://www.oxyscripts.com/manuals/smarty/language.modifier.string.format.htm l When this helps, then we can setup a smarty template per language? Jake, Thanks for your comments. I am not a fan of pear:db. I prefer to use standard sql. That is already a big step for portability + the clean and mean weberp script ConnectDB.inc. So it should not be too hard to port web-erp to another db engine. Smarty might be interesting, but I am already glad when css is optimal used. Multiple company support is interesting. Does it also support ldap (nds)? with best regards, Dick Stins ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jake Stride" <ns...@us...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Sunday, September 19, 2004 7:41 PM Subject: Re: EGS/Postgresql - Was Re: [Web-erp-developers] Cheap > Stins, Dick wrote: > > >Jake, > > > >I think that common functions which are needed in weberp and in your crm > >software should be encapsulated in classes, so you do not need to know where > >the information is comming from (postgres or mysql). > > > > At the moment it kind of should be in that it uses PEAR:DB for abstraction. > > > When you want to > >integrate web-erp and your crm software, you still need to integrate the > >authentication and the address books processing and .... > >The design of these issues should be loosely connected or we should create > >one big project (wegs-erp?). > > > > > That could be interesting and worthwhile, is it something people may be > interested in? > > >The same for all your code which needs views. I'm glad it was far enough along to commit, that will make it much easier to work with now as changes/fixes are needed. I'll try to look at the Credit_Invoice.php issue you pointed out - I remember having that happen on another one... That StockTransfers confusion - I emailed to the list about it - I don't believe I broke them, but was a little confused as well. Since no one else has yet, I'll see what I can do to straighten out the various Transfer scripts. The rest of what you mention here - I'm not real sure what you are talking about. If it's that I screwed up the location of $title some times, that's completely possible :) jesse Phil Daintree wrote: >Jesse, > >Spent entire weekend on this lot ... still a couple more snags :-( > >StockTransfers we have two DefineStockTransfer.php and >DefineStockTransfers.php used by the bulk and the single transfers. > >The StockTransfer.php looks for stock in the location transferring to >NOT the location transferring from. Jake, I think that common functions which are needed in weberp and in your crm software should be encapsulated in classes, so you do not need to know where the information is comming from (postgres or mysql). When you want to integrate web-erp and your crm software, you still need to integrate the authentication and the address books processing and .... The design of these issues should be loosely connected or we should create one big project (wegs-erp?). The same for all your code which needs views. Those should be encapsulated in classes, so it's easy to write an alternative for mysql (allthough when you are able to run mysql with maxdb, then probably you can use views). I even recommend to develop an architecture with: - front end layer - business rule layer - database trigger layer - database layer This helps to be in control of you own code, reuse of code, increase portability for you code (like porting to other databases: sql server, firebird, oracle). An example of an architecture like this is: http://sourceforge.net/projects/seagull/ With best regards, Dick Stins ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jake Stride" <ns...@us...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Saturday, September 18, 2004 1:08 PM Subject: Re: EGS/Postgresql - Was Re: [Web-erp-developers] Cheap > In what sense? you can replicate the database of several servers with > postgres. > > The problem with running to seperate databases is that you then have 2 > seperate address books/user authentication etc. I tmight be OK in some > situations but ideally i would like to see them running from the same > database. > > Jake > > Stins, Dick wrote: > > >Hoi Jake, > > > >I do not know much about postgres, but does it have also replication > >facilities like mysql? > > > >Did you consider running postgres and mysql together at one server? Jesse, Spent entire weekend on this lot ... still a couple more snags :-( StockTransfers we have two DefineStockTransfer.php and DefineStockTransfers.php used by the bulk and the single transfers. The StockTransfer.php looks for stock in the location transferring to NOT the location transferring from. You get a warning if there is unsufficient stock at the location you are transferring to!! Transfers are not effected ie location stock is not updated. $title must be defined after session.inc but before header.inc I have actually included this substitute _ function in config.php now as a bit of a hack - but still $title must be defined using our _ function after session.inc since config.php is included by session.inc I have committed it to CVS but its buggy. May be something I have done. Can you tell me why we are changing it? I was hoping to release a new file. I'll keep banging away trying to figure it out. Phil |

Jesse, I have committed a whole lot of this but am still concerned about bugs creeping in. I hate testing but there is no alternative really to keep the quality up. Sorry its taken me so long to figure it out - it took me quite a while to go through it all so goodness knows how long this took you to do. I can see that there is some reduction on some scripts and a couple of new includes. It seems fairly straightforward - he said after some time figuring it all out again - although I see your class idea (and yes, I know you started down this track to start with) has some merit. However, I am not keen to re-invent a wheel which appear roughly round already. There is a massive amount of work here that you have contributed - many thanks. I did notice Credit_Invoice.php doesn't add up the batches/serial numbers retrieved from the invoice it is crediting - although if you go into the controlled page she then recalculates ok. I haven't looked into this yet - you may know the answer. There a fair bit of gettextification done now too. My count says 27 scripts - and most of the real nasties are done. I have to say I am a little dissappointed that the foreign language speakers are not as involved in this as I had hoped. Thanks to everyone who has chipped in so far - hope you guys have the stamina to keep 'em coming. I will try to release a new file later on - there is a fair bit changed now since 2.9 Phil |

In what sense? you can replicate the database of several servers with postgres. The problem with running to seperate databases is that you then have 2 seperate address books/user authentication etc. I tmight be OK in some situations but ideally i would like to see them running from the same database. Hoi Jake, I do not know much about postgres, but does it have also replication facilities like mysql? Did you consider running postgres and mysql together at one server? At my server does it run fine. That might be a good alternative for your integration problem. with best regards, Dick Stins ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jake Stride" <ns...@us...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 11:00 AM Subject: Re: EGS/Postgresql - Was Re: [Web-erp-developers] Cheap > Yes the people that host it are having a few issues at the moment and > have blocked the ports on which it run (the problems aren't due to EGS > :-) ). > > I am trying to sort out another demo at the moment so hopefully it will > be back up soon. > > I have a demo running on my adsl box at home and could give you a login > for that if you want a quick look at it (for obvious reasons I don't > publish the details on sf.net) just contact me off list and I can give > you a login. > > Jake > > Stins, Dick wrote: > > >Jake, > > > >Sounds promishing, but I wasn't able to evealute your demo because it was > >not active. > > > >I will try it later. > > > >With best regards, > > > >Dick Stins > >----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Jake Stride" <ns...@us...> > >To: <web...@li...> > >Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 12:07 AM > >Subject: EGS/Postgresql - Was Re: [Web-erp-developers] Cheap > > > > > > > > > >>Stins, Dick wrote: > >> > >> > >> > >>>When you want web-erp be enhanced with crm, then > >>>it might be easier to integrate a mysql crm product. > >>>Like: > >>>xrms > >>>covide > >>>tutos > >>>sugarcrm > >>>vtiger > >>> > >>>with best regards, > >>> > >>> > >>> > >>> > >>Not to be to protective, but EGS is not just a CRM tool, it offers > >>project management, ticketing, and calendaring too, the whole point of > >>it is to have a single system from which to run a business as a posed to > >>several disparate systems. I'm kind of concerned about the inference with the calculator...shouldn't webERP calculate for me. Also the left empty chairs. We want people doing stuff and people using or loving their computer and its software. Do you have any others you can use? The right two are great. Of course, I'm pushing for perfection ;) Possibly a fairly close up picture of a computer screen with some kind of related stuff on the screen. Maybe something eluding to real world parts of business handled by webERP such as shipping/receiving. Hopefully each of those pics we can have separately too in the 4 shades. Awesome graphically, Chris. That would do very, very nicely. Great stuff! Kind of like black and white only blue and white or maybe earth brown and white. They need to be pastel colors. The whole picture can then be faded to be a banner background. I could fade it in Photoshop though later since what goes in front of it will determine the opacity needed. I realize this is highly exacting but would you be able to do anything like this by any chance? Here is an example sort of along the lines of what I'm getting at... http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/e/b/ceb543d1-c7f8-42a7-9034-155 fdd296388/Navision_Analytics.doc and here http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/7/1/a715efcb-e7f0-4cd9-8bfa-f6f 499f97681/GP_EnterpriseReporting.pdf in the right corner. Yes the people that host it are having a few issues at the moment and have blocked the ports on which it run (the problems aren't due to EGS :-) ). I am trying to sort out another demo at the moment so hopefully it will be back up soon. I have a demo running on my adsl box at home and could give you a login for that if you want a quick look at it (for obvious reasons I don't publish the details on sf.net) just contact me off list and I can give you a login. This issue with classes is basically a non-issue since there are very few class includes that have any strings in them. The ones that do DefineCartClass does appear in quite a few scripts - all we need to do is require once LanguageSetup.php in this class file or leave these scripts for Jesse and I. It would be beneficial if our emails to the lists are given some meaningful subject so the archives are browsable and the subject bears some resemblance to the content. There's a lot of "Cheap" talk at the mo but ironically much of it is about increasing the percieved value /image of weberp ;-) Phil ----- Original Message ----- From: "skaill" <sk...@ro...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 1:21 PM Subject: Re: [Web-erp-developers] Cheap > Not sure where the Multilanguage stands. Not sure where the Multilanguage stands. Maybe someone should recap what needs to be done. I think there was some confusion about the classes that's stopped everybody. I believe we can get weberp going on Postgres easily too - much of the ground work has been done by Danie - but sql in some scripts may have to change to be more generic. Most of it is pretty generic. I am keen not to be reliant on MySql as the only db weberp works on. If we can get the system working on postgres it surely will not be much more to do to work with firebird, MS SQL server, Sybase and a bunch of others. I know Jesse is a bit sceptical - I'd like to prove it. Alas all good things do take time though. I also believe it is much better to work with someone who is keen on integration from the other side of the integration. Count me in Jake.
