It's matter of playing around, but I suspect the children forming in the preset tight bunches, either to the left or the right sides, is not going to impede me in brainstorming. In fact, I think that the children dropping out in lists in vym could be useful -- it is quite possible that this can assist in letting ideas pour out very effectively, so that theycan then be reviewed and reassembled. It's also true that, when kickstarting a set of ideas, xLinks could be used for tentative connectivity. I have thought about copying stuff over from kdissert layouts. It is true that kdissert enables you to brainstorm and freely form spider diagrams. But I think that your method is going to prove faster (and therefore more conducive to brainstorming) than what kdissert offers. (Remember that kdissert is clumsy when it comes to writing notes and that using "ins" to jot another sub-idea into a list is going to be a lot faster than using the context menu in kdissert to enter a new item, and then reassembling). The ease of moving branches around is a consummately powerful feature of vym! I think your suggestion has distinct possibilities. Doubtless, if it proves viable, then the left/ right bunching issue can be looked at again, later. Thanks Geoff |
