ViPlugin doesn't even use these keys! I've tried it with 0.2.3 and
couldn't reproduce it...
Perhaps a bit more information (platform, OS, ...) could help!?

Hi all!
0.2.3 is out:
* implemented C
Martin Krauskopf fixed the following:
* "J": joins two lines with correct cursor positioning and removes
indentation between joined lines
* "I": jumps to the first non-blank character
* "^" for yank and delete commands: deletes or yanks from current position
to the first non-blank character. known bug: works only in back
direction (but it's 98% of cases :)
* "^" for movement: jumps to the first non-blank character

Hi Michael,
I've been examining viPlugin code a little and yestrerday tried to patch
some small bugs.
Here is the list:
* Fixed "J"
- joins two lines with correct cursor positioning and removes indentation
between joined lines
* Fixed "I"
- jumps to the first non-blank character
* Fixed "^" for yank and delete commands
- deletes or yanks from current position to the first non-blank character.
known bug: works only in back direction(but it's 98% of cases :) )
* Fixed "^" for movement
- jumps to the first non-blank character
It was mainly for training purposes :). But it is quite useful (at least
for me :) ) too.
I coded it against the last CVS version. But I really don't know if it
is the actual one (there is some "design improvements" in your TODO). So
if it is the last version and you are concerned in those patches than
let me know (along with style you want to receive this patches (modified
clasess, diff, cvs commit, ....).
I have some freetime now (during evenings :) ), so I'm going to code
more bugfixes and enhancements (either for me or for others too :) ).
I definitely have fun! :)
Emdot
PS: I'm really not able to recognize, if my Czech English is good
enough, so be patient and grapple with it! - thanks ;)

Hi Jake!
I've considered it, but it would look as if the only thing that counts
is money for me, which is certainly not true. People didn't understand
why I wanted to make a commercial version so it has died 10 minutes
after it had started.
btw: marks should work! (ma to set, 'a to go there IIRC)
btw2: a macro language will be there sooner than later ;)
There are 3 reasons why development has stopped for now:
- I've started studying, while still fulltime working.
- I'm currently finishing my CD (deadline 15th of November)
- There's no big challenge in adding features to the viPlugin and
programming is about challenges for me :o)
Anyway I hope I can continue soon after some of my more important tasks
are finished. Help with development is always welcome... <wink>
Have fun,
Michael

Have you considered using a ransomware model for vi plugin development funding? Since the cold reception to a commercial version of vi-plugin (which i've used for a long time now), the pace of development has slowed to a crawl. If that is a function of the fact that you can't get paid for developing vi-plugin, you might set up a fund to pay for further development based on features. I, for one, would chip in a few bucks for marks, for external commands, MOST DEFINITELY for a macro language, etc. Ransom is a good model to encourage payment for development work while keeping a application opensource and free (as in beer). Hi all, I just installed the vi plug-in and like it quite a bit. Thank you Michael & other developers ! Just wondering whether setting bookmarks like vim's m<a-zA-Z> has made it has yet ? Thanks & Regards, Tarun |

Well if you are taking suggestions for your to do list, I have a couple others :) The tilde should advance after it changes the case of a character. That way you can just hold down the tilde and change a large string of character's case. DOT repeat does not seem to work with inserts, changes, replaces, etc. That would be VERY handy for me anyway. It is something I use in VIM constantly. One other thing I noticed, at least on the mac anyway is that the plugin seems "sluggish" to switch modes when you first start working on an editor. The first few times it seems to ignore your commands to switch to insert, etc. After the first couple of times it starts working fine. Not sure how to quantify it better than that. Keep up the great work, this plugin has definitely made Eclipse an even better tool! You have to rightclick the toolbar and customize it! In the folder
others you can find the icon for the viPlugin!

OK, indeed I get a '<SD>' when executing '/' and 'v'. Is that Broken or normal? Didn't seem to have an effect. Does that have any relation to getting regx working with marks? Do regx work at all? I'm starting to use eclipse again, thanks for the excellent plugin. However, while marks work, I can't use them with regular expression to do search and replace. I can do this in vim (marks a and b already set): 'a,'bs/^/ / (enter) which should put 2 spaces at the beginning of a line. I can't seem to be able to use "%s" either. Is this a known issue, simply an unimplemented feature, or am doing something wrong? Thanks a bunch, iksrazal __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! (Forgive me if some of the logic here is flawed. This is after a 2 day course in plugins and Eclipse development.) I found something interesting with viPlugin on Mac OSX, but I am not sure why it occurs. This snip is found in viLayer.java : e.display.getActiveShell().setImeInputMode(SWT.NONE); e.display returns null for some reason, while Display.getCurrent() returns the current display: Display.getCurrent().getActiveShell().setImeInputMode(SWT.NONE); Since the latter is a Static reference, there is the potential issue of performance, but I am not sure how much this really will impact this plugin. I am going to do some more research on this and test the other features between my pc and mac to see if there are other platform dependent discrepancies. One thing i did notice is that you import the org.eclipse.ui.win32_2.1.0/workbenchwin32.jar, which has no correlating jar in the OSX release. Upon further inspection, I see this jar has something to do with OLE editors, but I searched the source and didn't find references to it anywhere. Am I missing your reference to this jar, or is it unneeded? I think this could be one of the potential reasons for the differences b/w mac and windows, but w/ no references it doesn't stand out as the culprit. Other than this little issue, this is a great start for a very useful plugin. Thanks for the hard work, Jason |

Hi!
Many ppl have tolde me that there is a problem. But I don't own a MAC,
if you could fix this issue you will get the commercial version for
free when it is available :)
happy fixing: it should be easy. should be somewhere in the
ViVerifyKeyListener. (something different for MAC)

Has anyone had issues with the viPlugin and Mac OSX on Eclipse? I can start up the plugin and it loads ok. It starts in command mode, but as soon as I enter insert mode I can not return to command mode. The plugin doesn't seem to register when I hit the escape key. I am willing to dive into the code if needed, but I wanted to check to see if anyone else has seen this problem. Thanks, Jason |

Hi all!
Again some small new features:
q: Page down
Q: Page up
v: Scroll down
V: Scroll up
I know that these are not the vim shortcuts, but in the next release
there will be either the correct Ctrl-? behaviour, or the commands will
be configurable.

You are using an MAC? Please enable the error log (show view -> error
log)! And send me the error message you get! Another MAC user had the
same problem, but I can't resolve it easily, because I do not have a
MAC.
If you are a programmer you might be able to resolve the problem on your
own and send a patch back to me. That would be the best solution.
