Hello all, I have a strange problem with viPlugin. I can load viplugin but none of vi's function is available to me. I don't really understand why this is happening. I am working on it from last 2 days and can not find a solution. I am using eclipsev3.0M7, which is the latest one on windows 2000. viplugin version is 0.2.9 I have loaded viplugin as described, by using eclipse software updates and then activated it. I can see the vi icon on the toolbar and also the vi menu element. But strangely it is not doing anything. No vi command nothing. Anyhelp will be great. The only thing I can do when it does not work is simply forget eclipse and work with vi (thats what I am doing till now). I tried to use eclipse earlier but found it difficult to use this without vi features. Now once I found this plugin I really felt very happy but it is not working for me. I need regular expressions to work with marks. At some point I thought I could do a /v to turn off searching - but now that gives me visual mode (I like visual mode, thanx!). I do this a lot in vim: 'a,'bs/^/ / (enter) Does that work for anybody? How about :$ Or ctrl-u and ctrl-d ? And lastly, yw cw r0 (yanks a word, changes word, puts yanked word into changed word). I'm using v.28 with eclipse 2.1.2 . Please help, iksrazal __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free web site building tool. Hi, I cannot load 2.8 in Eclipse 3.0. It fails to find org.eclipse.ui.ide_3.0.0. Where can I find this plugin? ===== Regards, Mark Pope __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hotjobs: Enter the "Signing Bonus" Sweepstakes http://hotjobs.sweepstakes.yahoo.com/signingbonus |

Hi all!
Happy new year 2004!
viPlugin 0.2.8 and it's new features:
* added moving through previous extended commands with CursorUp/CursorDown
* fixed small bug in the bookmark system
* fixed very annoying scrolling behaviour
* JUnit tests refactoring
* bugfix for "w" movement => getNextWord()
Note: The E21 version for eclipse 2.1 is not compiled yet! This will take
another day.
Have fun,
Michael

Hi all!
It seems we got another release out! Beware that from now on viPlugin
comes in 2 versions. E21 for Eclipse 2.1-3.0M4 and E30 for Eclipse
starting from 3.0M5, so be sure to download the correct version.
Via the update manager only E30 can be downloaded!
* fixed ENTER command
* fixed "Widget is disposed" problem
* '/' and '@' were added to wordEndings chars
* fixed width of VimStyle cursor. It is now set in accordance with font
* used by the current editor.
* dt, dT, df, dF work again
* tests were revived. Just initial version.
Have fun,
Michael

For 3.0M5 you have to use 0.2.6! Please try to update with the update manager. Enter http://www.satokar.com/viplugin_update/ and try it. This way the platform will tell you about possible problems while installing. Please report back if this doesn't work, but I have to tell you that I'm in London for the next 4 days. After that it will be my highest priority to get 0.2.7 out which should work again for Eclipse 2.1 + 3.0Mx Have fun, Michael |

Neither 0.2.5 nor 0.2.6 are working with 3.0m5 for me. 0.2.5 was working with 3.0m4. I'm using the gtk-linux version of Eclipse, and I'm installing the plugin by manually unzipping it in the Eclipse directory. I don't see viPlugin in the plugin registry, and I'm not getting any errors in the error log. What data would you like to see with a bug report? Should work, but the problem with the invalidation is different.
viPlugin is not designed to work with 3.0M5, but the changes in the
plugin structure in eclipse seems to make it impossible to write a
plugin that works for all versions. From now on it might be that we have
to make different versions for the eclipse series (2.0, 2.1, 3.0).
Have fun,
Michael

Are you sure, that you have installed all required software. I am using
debian und i have to install nearly all eclipse packages. Look at the
lib-path whether org.eclipse.ui.ide exists

Hello to all,
i got some problems installing the vi plugin: Eclipse ignores the
viPlugin_0.2.6
folder and using the update manager says:
Requested operation cannot be performed because ist would invalidate
the current configuration. See details for more information.
Details: viPluginFeature (0.2.6): Feature requires plug-in
"org.eclipse.ui.ide"
Any hints?
Thanks

Hi Deedjay, the problem with * vs. # should be solved in the next release(0.2.5). I will take a look at others problems early. MatchBrace really doesn't work for version 2.1.x. But you can solve it by switching to version 3.0M4 in the meantime before we will fix it ;) "/" shouldn't be a big issue too. Thanks for your feedback and look forward for 0.2.5 release (very soon). m. |

Hi, I don't know if I have missed something but I really can't get bracket matching (%) and search (/,?,* and #) to work. Also have noticed other strange (pherhaps related) things, but these are the most annoying. I'm using eclipse v2.1.0 if that is part of the explanation, and further I am using a swedish keyboard (wich was a proplem in early versions of VIM, as I recall). This is the behaviour: #) Almost works. It does search backward for the word, and occationally finds/highlights it aswell, but when I do '#' on another word it tends to find some of the words and the previous word in a strange mix. *) If the next following character is a move char (e,j,k,l,h,w,b etc) it displays '*e', '*j' etc in the CommandBuffer, "eats" the next character and then does noting. /) Show up (/ only) in CommandBuffer, eats everything 'til the next <return>, then does nothing. ?) and %) Does absolutely nothing. I guess this all has a good explanation (regex or something) but I (and presumably other with me) would be glad to understand why this is and how to fix it. _________________________________________________________________ Hitta rätt köpare på MSN Köp & Sälj http://www.msn.se/koposalj |

Hi all!
Another nice release to keep you going!
Martin Krauskopf implemented the following:
* One ViLayer per file which means it keeps all information of
individual layers (e.g. undo, search, ...) when switching
* When the ViLayer is unloaded (button/menu), all layers (for all files)
are unloaded (maybe it will be better to load/unload layers
separately - should probably depend on user preferences)
* It is possible to load/unload the ViLayer even if there is no file open
* commands: "yl", "yh", "cl", "ch", "dl", "dh"
* code cleanups
Have fun,
Michael

The blinking is done by the eclipse platform and can't be stopped
easily. Please file a feature request to the eclipse platform!

You can set standard_eclipse_style cursor:
Menu --> Windows --> Preference --> viPlugin--> uncheck "Vim Cursor Style"
BTW: this problem is in the TODO list (viPlugin_0.2.3/doc/TODO.txt)

Hi, I encountered a very strange problem. How to achieve it: 1) Open class with a long method (e.g. CommandBuffer.eval() in viPlugin package) 2) go on the beginning of that method 3) try to find something (e.g. "else" in CommandBuffer.eval() method) 4) every time I press the "n" for next search, screen "jumps" to the method beginning(method comment of CommandBuffer.eval() method) for a very short moment and after that short jump to the next occurence of the searched string (as it should immediately without that "jump"). Thus the problem is that "jump" to the method beginning (comment). It is really annoying. It happends on some another commands too (as I type search command "/e" - jump - "/el" - jump - "/els" - jump - "/else" - jump...., sometime on "u" - jumb, "<ESC>" - jumb). Interesting is that it does NOT happens when I'm testing plugin - run as Run-time Workbench and there I open an external file. Does anybody have the same experience? I hope, it was understandable enough(it is not easy to describe such anomaly ;) ) emdot |

I'm rather using y and p, but ^C and ^P (which is printing here, not
pasting) might be useful ;)
I have an idea what might cause the problem. Could you upgrade to M4 and
tell me if it's there anymore.
On the other hand please try:
Preferences -> Workbench -> Keys, there should be something like
PowerViPlugin KeybindingConfiguration. Does it say "extends Standard"
(like with the emacs keybinging). If not then this is you problem.
Switch to standard and everything should work like usual.
Have fun,
Michael
