All, I am identifying things that needs to be done for the 6.2->6.3 transition and there are _loads_. Here is a rough list: D O C U M E N T A T I O N - UTF done - patch against 6.3 TBD - sponsor.txt TBD - if_tcl.txt TBD - guides.cnx TBD - tags (6.3) TBD - translation date TBD - test B U I L D S Y S T E M - aap release for *.cnx TBD - vimcdoc.sh 60% need to include the script itself. - vcd-setup.nsi TBD - INSTALL TBD Patching (bringing the translated doc to-date) and translate the 'Last Changed' string is not trivial). I did a diff against 6.2 and 6.3 docs and there are _certain_ amount of difference. If any of the above task interest you, please raise your hand and take it! Also, I am sure there are things that are not in the list and needs to be done as well. Let us know if you can think of any. lang2 -- Simon Liang wzh...@sp... -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Send your email first class |

All, As a result of talking to Bram, I've commited a new version of guides.txt accordingly. The hilghts are below: 1. encoding: utf-8 has to be used. 2. date translation: 'Last changed' in the first line has to be translated and the _translation_ date has to be put in. Please do a update and read it. wandys, if you can update the guide page in our WIKI site, that would be great. Cheers, lang2 --=20 Simon Liang wzh...@sp... --=20 http://www.fastmail.fm - And now for something completely different=85 |

All, We've just been linked from the vim home (both pages) http://www.vim.org/translations.php This is a result of me asking Bram about the 6.2->6.3 transition. He also have some suggestion on how to make it. I will keep you posted. Cheers, lang2 -- Simon Liang wzh...@sp... -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Send your email first class |

All, I am trying to get another release (0.6.1) out of the door. As I mentioned b4, this would be our last release for Vim 6.2-. So from now on, further translation should be for 6.3. The official release of 6.3 hasn't been made yet. So I guess using whatever is in 6.3b is fine. If anybody is translating new piece, please use the new version _and_ make sure the encoding is *utf-8*. Migration of existing translation should be done as well but I'd like that to happen after we have everthing in utf-8. Thanks for your attention. lang2 -- Simon Liang wzh...@sp... -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Faster than the air-speed velocity of an unladen european swallow |

All, I'am trying to convert all docs to utf8 and am having problem with=20 2 files: map.txt and usr_24.txt. The others are converted fine. I've tried several different approaches (iconv, vim (which uses iconv I believe, NJstar, gedit, etc) and all of them failed. Anybody have any idea?=20 Can the original author try it? No. Translate away. I don't think the documentation has changed a lot=20 from 6.2 and 6.3. Besides, 6.3 isn't formally released yet (beta). I guess you can translate the 6.2 ones. Taking a look at 6.3 would be nice though. lang2 --=20 Simon Liang wzh...@sp... --=20 http://www.fastmail.fm - A no graphics, no pop-ups email service |

i am a newbie to linux. i join the project recently and am willing to contribute to the world of GNU. However, i found myself a little bit buzy these days and there may be some time before i get started. I'm wondering if there is a scheduled timetable of the proj, or something like that.... And to Simon Liang: as u mentioned in the list: > So what I am thinking is to release a last version for 6.2-. This would > (preferably) includes everything we have right now. After that > release, I can try to do whatever it needs for Vim 6.3 (we can > discuss those later if needed). Do u mean that those have not been translated should be put aside and i should wait for the 6.3 version to begin my translation? regards, pizza _________________________________________________________________ 与联机的朋友进行交流,请使用 MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com/cn |

All, Here are some of my thoughts on the upcoming releases. As I mentioned in earlier post, I am thinking of making vimcdoc compatible with Vim 6.3 and this is a big change (including changing encoding for every file and possibly file name too). It will probably have to break compatibility with 6.2-. So what I am thinking is to release a last version for 6.2-. This would (preferably) includes everything we have right now. After that release, I can try to do whatever it needs for Vim 6.3 (we can discuss those later if needed). So two things to be hilighted for the 'goodby 6.2' release are: 1. The files that are translated on the WiKi page. Are they checked in? If they are not, wandys, can you ask the guy to check it in? 2. The install script fix for Debian. This we don't have to worry about. Just re-test it I think. Any other fix, addition, suggestion are welcomed. usr_24.txt l152~154: To search forward, use CTRL-N. Since the search wraps around the end of the file, CTRL-N and CTRL-P will find the same matches, but in a different sequence. Hint: CTRL-N is Next-match and CTRL-P is Previous-match.
