In x128, symbolic keyboard mapping, ctrl-d is supposed to show the current drive number. this works fine in x64. in x128 it just gives a symbol, but i think the drive number is being updated

    Most of the symbolic keyboards aren't totally symbolic, yet. The CTRL and CBM keys still are positional.

    Type a quotation mark. Then, try both the host keyboard's Ctrl and Tab keys with the D key. One of them will type a graphic character, and the other one will type a D in reverse colors. The one that gives you the reverse D is your current CTRL key. Try that one with JiffyDOS.

      Thanks Greg. It could just be my setup, but the D in reverse is not printed at all in the steps you indicated below.

    doesn't work for me either in x128, but does work fine in x64sc
    actually, CTRL-D (which is TAB-D with my mapping) does nothing at all for me.

    but otherwise the same CTRL (TAB) works fine , i can change text colors with no problem.

    15 7 2 16392 / TAB -> Ctrl /

    sorry, "default symbolic" doesnt tell much - what is the language/host layout?

    Sorry - my host is Windows 10, EN-US.  Was just saying which radio button was selected in settings.

    Hi Greg, I can get the same "[rvs D][space] as you, but Jiffydos still doesnt respond with the drive number as it should. Could you try with the JD ROM installed?

    The Keymapping does indeed work correctly - this must be an unrelated problem

    changing the title accordingly

    Do note that JiffyDOS for the C128 has a known bug here that has persisted all the way through v6.01, in that Ctrl-D simply does not switch devices in C128 mode, unless you do some machination or another with the serial bus (I forget specifically what, and damned if I can find where it was documented). Just re-checked on real hardware.

    The aforementioned quote-Ctrl-D-quote trick still reveals that the actual key combo itself works fine (e.g. you get a reverse "D" in quotes), and changing devices works in C64 mode.

    This does not appear to be a VICE bug.
