Displaying maximal veroboard dimensions while working

I almost always have to use the dimensions of an existing veroboard. I try to arrange the components so that they can fit. (I think, that's common.) It would be of help to me if I could enter a board size, which is then displayed permanently as an orientation so I see what I still have to move together.

My idea for that would be that I can enter the dimensions somewhere (maybe in the "Rendering Options" window) and then the background outside of this dimensions is permanently displayed in a (very) light gray. The bright area could just always start from the component that is furthest to the top left (i.e.)

The difference to now would be that I can also consciously place components outside of this area and do not lose the feel of the size of the complete Veroboard (now I only see the whole used workplace).

An alternative would be, for what I asked before, that I can use text boxes with (soft) background color or free rectangles with colored border (aid object). I think, this would solve the problem as well. What do you think?

    Yes that could be useful.
Prefered option is not to use fake parts like components or text boxes, but to allow a desired board dimension to be entered somewhere, and then have the tool automatically grey out areas.

Once component editor is released (first version will be hopefully be within next few weeks) you will be able to build a large empty "component" (i.e. just a large rectangle wih no pins) and use that like the text box workaround you are suggesting.
