I'm using VeraCrypt on macOS. Since version 1.21, the preference "TrueCrypt Mode" does not work. No matter the setting, TrueCrypt Mode is always checked in the mount options. I've tried disabling and enabling the option, but to no avail. Version 1.22 also does not fix the problem.

Any ideas? Or is this a legit bug?

I too have this problem, each time the computer reboots and VeraCrypt is automatically launched. The mount options always have the TrueCrypt mode checked and I have to remember to uncheck it. However, I am on Windows.

I still experience this annoying issue with 1.24 Update 7 (August 2020).

On the Mac version of VeraCrypt, is their the Settings > Default Mount Parameter?

If yes, do you have TrueCrypt enabled in the Default Mount Parameters?

Are you mounting file containers? If yes, does the file container have a TrueCrypt ".tc" file extension or the VeraCrypt ".hc" file extension?

If the file extension is ".tc", with the file container unmounted, rename using the VeraCrypt ".hc" file extension.

Starting with 1.20 version for MacOS and Linux and starting with 1.24-Update2 version for Windows:

Check TrueCryptMode in password dialog when opening container file with .tc extension.

In my case, the Default Mount parameter has "TrueCrypt Mode" checkbox was not ticked, which explains my confusion. Among my favorite volumes that are automatically mounted, I had one file that indeed had a "tc" extension. Renaming it to "hc" did the trick. Thank you.
