SHA-3 (Secure Hash Algorithm 3) is the latest standard in the Secure Hash Algorithm family, published by NIST in August 2015 (FIPS 202).
I know there were some controversies when selecting the chosen hash, but I believe they have been completely overcome over time. It is very innovative compared to other types of Hash. It would be a nice addition to Veracrypt.
