Its really activated in the first 2 rows of the grid. I can't use buttons there for the same reason I had to do away with the dropdowns. I can easily activate the rest of the coluns... not a problem. This might lead to some reports of problems, such as mine. I can't really think of a better idea to make it more obvious where to click, other than maybe making the partition #/name look like a button or something of that sort. The only other thing I thought of, was to make the cells clickable, rather than the text in the cells. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Vectorlinux-devel mailing list Vec...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/vectorlinux-devel |

In IRC I have reported that when selecting a partition to install onto, it will do nothing when you click on the partition. I found this had to do with WHERE on the partition you click at. You have to make sure that you click on the text of the hdx# or sdx#, and not just anywhere in the cells row. This might lead to some reports of problems, such as mine. I can't really think of a better idea to make it more obvious where to click, other than maybe making the partition #/name look like a button or something of that sort. I've packaged opera 10.00-4102 (it's opera's beta 2 build) packaged it against qt4-4.50 that is in the Repository. I didn't know if you'd want it in the Repository yet so haven't announced it on the packagers board. But it work fine with KDE4. One other problem noted in the A 1.9.19 build though - Kpackage will not work without Smart packager. it probably be removed or smart intalled before Alpha. Just my 2 Cents worth. I really like what I see so far though. Dave |

I see after I sent my last e-mail that opera 10.0 has gone beta and is now in beta 2 - I downloaded and installed it last night and it now works fine. Need to build a package for that one. I will if no one else has yet. but time is a constraint see if I can get to it today. Dave |

I'm sending this again because I did not see it come back on the list my appologies if it did and i did not get it . Also will add one more comment just an irritation more than anything else. when the installer reboots it does not eject the Disk. have install -install went fine. However found out if you install grub as a bootloader it will not find your VL-standard partition. Menu Items that I complained about before now seem to work The Qt 4 package needs to be renamed. so if you do an upgrade qt 3.3.8 does not try to be the upgrade to it . Simply needs to be repackaged and renamed qt4- xxx or whatever but not just qt- xxx think that would work of course mostlikely that would lead to the rebuild of other kde4 packages. also if it is renamed you should be able to have them both installed qt4 & qt3 , some packages still require qt3 package to work IE Opera 9.64 Robert your opera 10.0 build is nice but that still alpha and crashes on one of my favorite sites until opera 10.0 goes beta or final would still like to use opera 9.64 and that will require qt3 I believe which can not be install now without deleting qt4 package and that won't work. like the new desktop layout instead of the air one that comes with kde4 , but we can do more there also. but think it's close for Alpha build. Good work. will test more in the next few days. but like what I see so far Cheers, Dave |

M0E ok I have uploaded a cd2 and a modified cd1 to the usual place with the mods that you asked for they are A1.9.20 and A1.9.20-cd2 iso's. For everyone else reading this list please try the latest VL6.0-SOHO-A1.9.19.iso I believe this is good enough to try on the public via our forum as ALPHA2. Please some feedback on this if at all possible. @Vec and @Uelsk8s Here is what I need for a mult-cd installation Both ISO images need a config file named VINSTALL.CONF the full path should be the same path as it is in the 1st cd I need the following variables on BOTH config files. INSTALL_ID=07222009 (this number can be anything... it juest needs to match on both files.) MULTI_CD=1 ( this will be set to 1 if true, set to 0 if false.) If MULTI-CD as been defined as "1" then I need the following in the first cd New directory in veclinux called "CD2" (use uppercase letters) in this directory place your bulk definitions. The installer will read all of these, so we do not need to name them in the original VINSTALL.CONF The 2nd cd should be exactly the same as the first, with the exception of the initrd or any un-needed stuff ... path to packages and repo structure should be exactly the same. If you all have any other suggestions/ideas let me know. I need new ISO's before I can continue coding. |

I'd like to get a new ISO. I dont know if A1.9.18 has been re-built. I read the locales were fixes, but version number didnt increase? Anyway, I'd like to get a new ISO so we can test and make sure keyboard layouts work. Also need to start getting this thing translated. |

The installer is work great now have used it a few times and everything I can see seems to install correctly. Few needs in KDE4 though 1. Gslapt menu entry does not functions , menu command needs to be changed so kedsu is placed before gslapt : kdesu /usr/bin/gslapt 2. vasmCC seems to be missing altogether, So the menu entry for that does not work vasm is present but must be lunched from the terminal to work. 3. Whole system seems to be slow , this may be a KDE4 problem or it may be because my test box only has 512mb of ram which isn't much for kde4 other than that think it's ready for public testing. I have just finished changing the way the system reads the partition table. I took one of the hard drives in uel's box, created 15 partitions. There are 2 swap partitions on different drives. the isntaller sees all of them. I modified the way partitions are detected/displayed/selected. The new change sort of reflects the way the ubuntu installer selects partitions. Click on one, the dialog comes up for you to select the properties for the partition. This change was necessary because the I noticed in the old method with the dropdowns by each partition, if you have more partitions than you can fit vertically on the screen, you use the scrollbars to select the ones on the bottom. Everything scrolls, but the dropdowns stay on their place... doesn't look good at all, and I wasn't confident it was going to work... This new method will work much better, and is also a performance improvement over the last method. This is now object-based. I figured, the partitions are read once at tht time the installer is searching for installable media, so I used the results of that search to create partition objects, and simply list these on a step later... makes a lot more sense... no need to probe the system for partitions over and over. Binary is updated now including these changes in code. Hope it works for you guys.... Let me know |

Hi Moe-inx, Downloaded SOHO Alpha 1.18 this morning and the installer still is not working with my hardware. But the 120 that you have me change in gambas2 works fine from the project we modified so I'm wondering if that code got inclueded in the new installer you up loaded? I'll send the code to you later if needed. I'm on the road today so won't be able to get back to it until some time tonight. Dave |

ok the initrd is fixed, we were missing a xkb symlink in /usr/share/X11. I did load all the pertinent Xkeyboard stuff into /etc/X11/xkb just has the missing symlink so should be good to go now. I did not update version numbers so the final iso is still VL6-SOHO-A1.9.18.iso. Give it a go see how it works! FWIW, I think a better approach to this is to not allow the user to click the button if incorrect data is found anyway. So with that in mind, I have changed the code so that the button is only enabled with everything is in line for the account to be created/imported. |

I just tried this ISO with the latest and greatest installer. Have not ran it yet, but I'm @ the first screen now. I noticed you got some of the X stuff for keyboards, so I enabled my code for it. You are missing the stuff in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules though. Because the rules are missing, the keyboard selection is useless at this point, until we get a new ISO with that stuff in it. Just for test purposes, I copied that over from an existin 6.0 light install, and the keyboard settings stick correctly, so that's the only thing we need. This dir is only 956K, so it should not be a whole lot of trouble to get it in there. |

Tested A1.9.17.2 iso Intel i810 seems to be fixed. Installer screen comes up moments after selecting resolution. Looks like we're good there, success. Wed Jul 15 2009 while in Dev IRc, I ran installer from same iso. It updated on it's own from svn. That's handy :) . I can confirm that there is a window raising problem when importing users. Here's the details: Select user name to import, and don't add anything into the fields (it doesn't add anything on it's own excpet the username), click on the import button, and the window will jump up the screen. Keep ckicking it and it will jump up each clcik. If you fill in all required fields and click import, it runs normal and succsessfuly imports that account. Looks like the "jump up" might be related to the information balloons. I saw one very quickly while doing the above, but it disapeared too fast as window jumped up the screen. |
