I have Unreal 3.0 .. Im using Win2000. I can get it working but, when = you log in it says: Welcome to the ROXnet IRC Network Locutus!sinister@dolby why is this? Is = there any way to change it? Also, are there any services out there I can use? If = so, where? Also I changed the MOTD in the conf file but it wont show my MOTD.. = Please help. Thank you. Robert |

i'm running an irc server using version Unreal3.0-Morrigan(fix) and = epona services, some users have problems connecting to the server = because their isp dont run reverse dns so it takes a LONG time to = connect to the server, is there a way that i can speed up this process, = maybe by supressing the need to resolve connections ? also, is there a way that i can allow admins to force user nick changes = ? and lastly, is there a way that i can 'intergrate' services with the = ircd to avoid having to to do /msg defore and comand. thanx in anticipation al |

Hi, I am a software engineer working for Ikimbo developing an online community using Unreal as our chat server. My project is the chat/instant-messaging client. I've never worked with IRC before, so this might be a very simple question: One of the things we want to do is for users to be able to set their status to some kind of "away status", such as "away to lunch", "away to meetings", etc. I assume Unreal provides a standard IRC AWAY command and in my client code I can send AWAY command to the Unreal server whenever a user changes his/her status to "away", and the server will take care of the rest. What I don't know is whether Unreal provides the functionality of broadcasting this status change to all the people who have this user's name in their buddylist/watchlist so that my client code can update the status change in real time for everybody(like yahoo instant messenger). Hi: I have a daemon that is connected to the chat server as user "A". I have other applications that would like to contact the daemon, and use the daemon connection to the chat server to send messages to other people connected to the chat server. However, what I would like to do is to send the message from the daemon to the chat server not as user "A", but as the name that is supplied by other applications. That is: 1. The daemon connects to the chat server as user "A". 2. User "X" wants to talk to the user "Y", so "X" sends a message to the daemon. 3. The daemon forward the message to the user "Y" who is on the chat server as user "X", not user "A". Is this possible? Thanks and Regards, Ramin |

Unreal-Support, Currently I am looking into acquiring an IRCD server account, with = KIRENet.com. (http://www.kirenet.com/shells.html for details on the IRCD service) Their services are looking very good as far as the type of account = with them goes. I am writing in inquiry about UnrealIRCD to see if it is able to = compile onto slackware linux? My intention is to link the server with another in order to support = more users, keep the connections up, and learn more about administrating an IRC server. Your help in this is greatly appreciated.
