Now I load additional packages from a local webserver, windows or linux. But I want to be able to load them from a local system through Samba from a shared windows-directory. I found out I'll have to use the packages smbmount and smbcore to be able to load addition package trough Samba. Together approx. 700 kB !!! These packages are too big to fit on a boot-floppy. Has anyone an idea to have another way to use samba-mounts for additional packages-loading? A smaller program for Linux? (With BSD it's possible to use a very small program to mount samba-shares, but its author says this program won't work for Linux.) 700kB for a single task: mounting a Windows-system frustrates me. |

A couple of questions? - What type of filesystem are you saving the tar to? If it is ext2 (linux) then you are probably running into the 2GB file limit. I generally use reiserfs and it is supported in trinux. The kernel module is available in the linux-fs.tgz package and the tools to create the fs are in the reiserfs.tgz package - Which tar are you using. By default trinux uses the busybox tar--which might have some limitations, not sure. The full GNU tar is in the fileutil.tgz package. - mdf > I'm trying to use Trinux to save some archives (to > tell the truth, a lot of them) in Windows98SE machines > as a backup tool. Hello everybody, I'm trying to use Trinux to save some archives (to tell the truth, a lot of them) in Windows98SE machines as a backup tool. Until today, it just work perfectly, even better than other small distribuitions that were made to deal with these matters. I've tried to create a tar file with a really HUGE amount of files to a total of 4.5Gbs. Yes, I know I've got hard on this. In my tests, the tar used in Trinux has a limit of working with a amount equal to 2Gb maximum. I was asking myself is there is no way to workaround this problem if tar could use the compact option in newer versions of tar (the z option). The Windows98SE workstations are AMD XP 1.6Ghz with 256Mb of memory. Any help or idea would be very good. Thanks everybody, ===== Alceu Rodrigues de Freitas Junior -------------------------------------- gla...@ya... http://www.imortais.cjb.net -- Hell is empty and all the devils are here. -- Wm. I am using the 5sep02.iso image of Trinux. On a Slackware 7.1 machine, = I compiled a new kernel (2.4.19) for it, so that it would match the version of the kernel that the = 5sep02.iso image of Trinux was using. =20 I have a package that I wanted to build for Trinux, so I installed it on = the Slackware machine and=20 then tared up the file into example.tgz. This package did however need = the kernel sources to install,=20 which I had the 2.4.19 kernel sources on there for. I then inserted the = tgz file into the iso image,=20 burned a cd, etc. Now from Trinux, I try to start the script for my new = software package which happens=20 to load a module that I have as part of the tgz file and it is there in = Trinux - but I get insmod errors. =20 There are about 15-20 of them, an example follows =3D insmod: = unresolved symbol kmalloc_Rsmp_93d4cf36. Does anyone have any ideas? I know these unresolved symbols are usually = due to different kernel versions=20 from the one I am using. But I have made sure that I am using 2.4.19 = and that the version of Trinux is=20 in fact 2.4.19. The one thing that I did notice about the Trinux = version was that it looks like it may=20 have been built on Debian, should this matter? Thanks for any help, Scott |

Good day. SIR, Following the sudden death of my husband General Sani Abacha the late former head of state of Nigeria in June 1998,I have been thrown into state of utter confusion, frustration and hopelessness by the present civilian administration, I have been subjected to physical and psychological torture by the security agents in the country. My son is still under detention arraigned before the federal high court of Nigeria for an offernce he did not commit. You must have heard over the media reports and the internet on the recovery of various huge sums of money deposited by my husband in different security firms abroad, some companies willingly give up their secrets and disclosed our money confidently lodged there or many outrightly blackmail us. In fact the total sum discovered by the Government so far is in the tune of $700 Million dollars. And they are not relenting to make me poor for life. I got your contacts through my personal research, and out of desperation decided to reach you through this medium. I repose great confidence in you hence my approach to you. Due to security network placed on my day to day affairs I cannot afford to visit the embassy so that is why I decided to contact you and I have the sum of $18 million USD with a security firm abroad whose name is witheld for now until we open communication. I shall be grateful if you could receive this fund into your account for safe keeping. This arrangement is known to you and my son Mustapha alone, so my son will deal directly with you as security is up my whole being. I am seriously considering to settle down abroad in a friendly atmosphere like yours as soon as this fund get into your account so that I can start all over again. Please honesty is the watch word in this transaction. I will require your telephone and fax numbers so that we can communicate immediately and I will give you more details and the full picture of things. In case you dont accept please do not let me out to the security as I am giving you this information in total trust and confidence, I will greatly appreciate if you accept my proposal in good faith. Please expedite action. Does anyone have any hints for creating new packages for Trinux? I assume it's simply a case of bundling the relevant components into a .tgz file, but if anyone has any docs/experience they'd like to share, that would help. Also, what's the correct process for submitting patches? Should we be using the sourceforge patch manager, or just mailing to the list. Thanks in advance. |

I understand from past mailing list items that the .config files for kernels used in Trinux are, from time to time, made available at http://trinux.sourceforge.net/kernel/ . Mathew, could you upload the file for the current 2.4.19? Thanks in advance. |

Hi *.* With the net img File it's possible to start a ssh login using Putty But generating Keys with the IDE IMG is not possible. What I like to do was . Loading package form hda1 and make a ssh connection. Of course with the net IMG it was not possible to load the package form the HD but the SSH connection was 0 prb. With the ide IMG it was possible to load the package form the HD but the SSH, even generating a Key was not possible . BTW I try to start trinux form a FAT16. Have someone a cookery book or a "how to .." Try it with lilio .. Kernel panic .. user panic :-) Bye Stefan - - - - - - - Appended by Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. - - - - - - - This e-mail and any attachments may contain information which is confidential, proprietary, privileged or otherwise protected by law. I have booted trinux from an IDE CF although you could probably boot from the LS120 if you add IDE floppy support to the kernel. I started some instructions somewhere for installing Trinux onto IDE devices. Let see if I can dig them up. I know someone else got a webcam working. If it is supported by Linux, it should be possible. - mdf > Hi NG, > > I'm new in trinux and would like you to ask some questions on it. > I get a mini pc with cf, ide and usb support. > To boot from floppy I could use a LS120 super floppy drive on > my ide channel connected temporally for my first installation. > I would like to record a usb webcam (logitech quickcam) > data stream to the hd (2.5",40GB) and boot my system from > a 256MB cf card in ide mode. > Now I'm looking for a os which could satisfy my specifications > and my impression is trinux could reach this goal. > What will by to by done by me and what is already done and > could by found at the web for my purpose? > > It would by very nice to get some hints by you on this topic ;-) > > > Many thanks in advance > > Markus > > DL8MBY > > ********************************************************** > Deutsches Zentrum f?r Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) > Postfach 1116 > D-82234 We?ling > Telefon: +49 (0)8153 28 1394 > Telefax: +49 (0)8153 28 1443 > eMail: mar...@dl... > ********************************************************** > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by: Influence the future > of Java(TM) technology. I've looked in the actual module itself but it only references the version as 0.09. There are unfortunately 4-5 versions of 0.09. Subject: Re: [Trinux-talk] Perl Modules question I have no proof but I'm guessing it is 0.09d based on the fact that Nov 2000 was the last release (0.09d) and the packages were compiled/built much later. Timestamps say Dec 2000, but I thought I built them later than that. = mdf > > Hi all, > > > > Is there anywhere I can determine the exact version of the perl modules > > being used (specifically Net::RawIP)? yarddog, This is how Linux/Trinux works, you type in a command and it executes, the end. However, you could write a perl script using a loop to call that same command and continually execute your command until you (ctrl+d)... rwhetsel |
