I know similar issues with long textureless lines rolling through the whole landscape but I have tested it on different computers and it was specific to my own system. It seems my graphic card (driver) can't handle 3D-landscapes very well. Can you test it on other systems for comparison too?

It is interesting that you report the same issue again and again on different hardware since all I ever experienced was a little different and not at all connected with being close to edges. In my case chuncks of landscape textures get lost temporarily (no matter if they are far away or very close). Therefore I can see through the ground. It comes and goes and happens every few seconds. Originally I was very annoyed by it but I have learned to ignore it. It's only rather unpractical when making screenshots since it happens very fast and very often a texture glitch suddenly disrupts the scenery just the moment I press the screenshot key. (See attached screenshot for reference.)
It looks like the texture gets loaded to late or deleated to early. Maybe when it switches from one resolution to the next depending on distance.
This wasn't the case before I switched to the new Debian version. So the old graphic card drivers somehow didn't allow this problem. But if you find a similar problem on different systems this might be something code related in the end after all.
It could be that what Paparidis screenshotted above is normal behavior for the current game camera: it is not smart enough stay above the terrain. So occasionally it will get under the terrain, resulting in graphical glitches.
This does not seem to be a bug ticket but rather a feature request: "improve the camera code".

Andrei, I have the feeling you answered in the wrong thread. The vanishing textures are a totally different thing. I again tested the game today on Windows 10 and I can confirm my impressions from the last time.

This thread isn't about vanishing textures. It's about the camera getting below ground level. File a separate bug report on the topic of vanishing textures if you wish.

Are there screenshots that I must see? Otherwise I don't understand what you mean.

I've tested it on 2 different GPUs.Both AMD, R9 290 and an old HD 4870, still had the same issue.
I will check on an nvidia aswell.
Same Issues occured when I tried with an nvidia GT 720m
