Hi all, To answer roms' questions: 1) I primarily use Gentoo Linux (2.6) kernel, although I now have an=20 Apple laptop running OS X. Maybe time to port to a new platform? :) 2) I have an 83+SE 3) I have a SilverLink cable, and a black serial cable (I tend to use=20 the black cable because the USB one always seems kind of flaky for me) 4) I use Gnome (and OS X, as I said above) 5) Better integration would always be welcome (seeing as TiLP is=20 already GTK-based, Gnome integration would be nice) 6) I would be available for development, although I do not have a lot=20 of experience with the TiLP code itself, or with low-level hardware=20 control stuff. 7) I think all I would really look for is a variable editor, and a=20 program editor. A nice, open-source emulator would be great, but it's=20 not a major need for me. Hope this helps! Hi to all my users & developers ! TiLP (and all others TI related software) development has been stopped for = 6 months now=20 due to various reasons... But, I'm gonna to take over TiLP development soon= ... Given that I'm not a student any more, I will have less time... Thus, I wil= l focus me on things are important and I will delegate some work (if possible). Delegation may include: graphism, web site, documentation, translators, dev= elopers, packaging. This is the reason why I'm writing this mail; it's a kind of survey/poll. At first, I will stop every Win32 support. I will keep in mind Win32 extens= ions or gateways for others developpers but there will not be new code. For now, it's Linux/U*IX only ! Win32 porters/developers are welcome... Next, a simple poll: 1=B0) Which is your primary OS ? secondary ? ... 2=B0) Which calculator do you own ? 3=B0) Which link cable do you have ? 4=B0) Which is your desktop (Gnome, KDE, ...) ? 5=B0) Will you be interested in a better integration with the desktop ? 6=B0) Will you be interested in TiLP development, support, help, testing, .= .. ? If yes, please tell me which field. Please not that you must have a good av= ailability. 7=B0) What software would you like to get (emulator, editors, ...) ? At last, I would like to know some of your prefs, what you would like to do or see... All suggestions are welcome ! Please reply on the 2 mailing-lists. It's a Voyage 200 using the latest OS (2.09 I think). Still, I think it's possible with others (92's, 89's). I'll see if I can confirm this with him. How can we go about capturing the protocol? TiLP does not erase memory itself when it restores a backup. This step is m= anaged internally by calc. Hi all, For those who don't know me, I worked with roms to get the TiLP makefiles in shape to create ebuilds for the Gentoo Linux distro. I'm currently listed as the maintainer of the Gentoo Linux packages on the TiLP SourceForge site. Anyway, I was just contacted by somebody who saw my contact info on the site about a problem with the Gentoo ebuilds linked to on http://tilp.sourceforge.net/tilp-linux.php. After checking out the problem, I also realized the info on the TiLP site is quite outdated - which is probably my fault for not keeping the web site maintainer informed of changes. Anyway, the ebuilds for TiLP (and the library dependencies) are now in Gentoo Linux Portage. The ebuilds there are newer than the ones I have publically available, so the web site should probably be updated to tell people to look in the Gentoo Linux 'app-sci' category for the necessary ebuilds. The status of the latest ebuilds can be seen at http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?category=app-sci;name=tilp http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?category=dev-libs;name=libticables http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?category=dev-libs;name=libticalcs http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?category=dev-libs;name=libtifiles Also, I haven't had a hand in the latest TiLP updates in Gentoo, so problems with or enhancements to the ebuilds are probably best addressed by using Gentoo's Bugzilla (http://bugs.gentoo.org/). Of course, my email address is the same if anybody has a question they really want to ask me directly. I'm not sure who maintains the TiLP SourceForge site anymore, so I'm sending this to the development list. Please contact me with any questions, or if further information is desired. Thanks in advance to whoever can update the site! Brent Redeker |

You just need to send the keycode for the key. The keycodes are listed in the TI manual (available as a PDF file from TI's website) and in the libticalcs headers. Be warned, the TI manual is wrong when it comes to arrow keys ; they swapped the keys somehow. JB. -- Julien BLACHE <http://www.jblache.org> <jb...@jb...> |

What is the recommended means of compiling TiLP libraries on Win32? Is it using mingw? msys? Are there any special defines that need to be set? (__WIN32__ ?) If so, how and where should they be set? In the win32/mingw folder of each library source, there is a README which says to './config4mingw', 'make', and 'make install'. However, there is no config4mingw script. There are some other files that look like they're used for compiling dll's, but no info on how to use them. Thanks for any help! John |

Hi, I've just fixed a heap corruption in TiLP, and I had to run Valgrind on TiLP to find it. This reveals a lot of errors related to string handling ; most of the time TiLP is reading past the end of a buffer, but from time to time it's *WRITING* past the end of the buffer, which is a real problem. The problem I fixed was lying in the format() function in src/labels.c. This function is called with a buffer returned by a GTK function as its argument, and *modifies* this buffer. Eventually, it can write past the end of the buffer. How bad that is. I wonder if the GTK docs aren't explicite enough when they tell *not to modify a buffer returned by a GTK function*... If somebody has more free time than I actually do, it'd be nice to run TiLP under Valgrind and fix the errors... For a (colored) diff, see : <http://svn.technologeek.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/tilp/trunk/src/labels.c?r1=338&r2=357&diff_format=h&root=tilp> JB. -- Julien BLACHE <http://www.jblache.org> <jb...@jb...> |
