Hi, this is the SwisTrack newsletter. You get this mail because you subscribed to the mailing list. The SwisTrack project is located on http://swistrack.sourceforge.net. This mailinglist will continue to have very low traffic, and should be spam-free. Contents: 1. Official SwisTrack publication 2. New projects using SwisTrack 3. New features/re-design 4. OpenSource Release upcoming 1. Official SwisTrack publication --------------------------------- Fortunately, our paper "SwisTrack: A Tracking Tool for Multi-Unit Robotic and Biological Systems" as well as the accompanying video have been accepted for publication at the IEEE/RSJ Int. Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems as one of around 1000 papers and 35 videos respectively. Please find more details and a camera-ready version in due course on http://infoscience.epfl.ch/search.py?recid=85929&ln=fr The video can be found at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6191467557059762009 Both the paper and video were very well received by the reviewers, and we are looking forward to presenting SwisTrack to a large audience this October in Bejing. 2. New projects using SwisTrack ---------------------------------- Julien Nembrini, PostDoc at the SWIS group will use SwisTrack for visual servoing of a fleet of miniature robots "E-Puck", which requires implementation of marker based tracking, and the computation of objects orientation. Pierre Roduit, PhD student at SWIS, will use SwisTrack for trajectory analysis of a single robot, and will improve robustness of the image segmentation routines. 3. New features / Re-design ----------------------------- SwisTrack is in the process of major redesign. The software architecture's modularity has been increased, and all parameters are now managed in a unified XML description that is shared among the different SwisTrack components, and can be queried using the x-path language (thanks to libxml2). This will ease implementation of new features drastically. In particular, developers that need to implement a new feature are most likely not required to make any changes on the GUI of SwisTrack, which is dynamically created based on an XML configuration file. Also, parameters do not to be passed from the GUI through the entire class hierarchy, which eases debugging and maintenance. 4. OpenSource Release upcoming ----------------------------------- The source code of SwisTrack will be released in the very near future on SourceForge, SVN check-out will be then be publicly available. It is however recommended to wait for a stable release version, which will be announced on this mailing list. Please continue using Sourceforges bug and feature tracking mechanisms meanwhile.
